What an awesome day of ministry today! The weather was fantastic with temps in the 60's!

Chevette Moore with Greg on Holloway Street. I was driving down Holloway and saw Chevette witnessing so I stopped and we ministered together for a while. Chevette has a real heart for the lost. She and her husband (Keith) were once on the streets on crack. Greg is making head way from when I met him three years ago. Praying that he will surrender his life to JESUS!

This is another brother that I have known for a long time. He is an alcoholic. He just did some time then returned right back to the area that he got in trouble at before. (Proverbs 26:11) This guy started singing gospel songs out there today and what a voice! He also started quoting scripture! He believes that he is ok with the Lord??? He is very deceived! One of those deals where he once prayed a prayer???? We ministered the Word to him and I told him that the Bible is clear that no drunkard will inherit the Kingdom of God! (1Corinthians 6:9-10)

I ministered to four different prostitutes today. April is such a sweet girl but just needs direction in her life. I am praying that she will leave the streets and get into rehab. She just did some time in the county jail so she is off heroin right now. She is using alcohol now instead. She needed a coat today so she is wearing one that was donated by the New Hope Church people this past Sunday. This is a Lee jacket that had the tags still on it. She just loved it! Please pray that April surrenders her life to JESUS!

An Awesome Weekend of Ministry!

SATURDAY---Praise God for the weather holding off for us at Rochelle Manor this past Saturday! We teamed up with Bethesda Baptist to minister to and bless the people of this community. I appreciate Pastor Jacob, Pastor JR, Marcia Elliott, Clint McCullen and the rest of the crew at Bethesda Baptist coming out to serve and minister. It was also good to work with the people of Flat Rock Baptist Church in Hendersonville, NC. who came in to team up with Bethesda for this outreach.

We had a very good crowd for the way the weather was looking. We have out 14 color tv's, clothes, bedding, food, toys, etc. We do this of course as a way to share the GOspel and to build relationships with the community. This has been a place of a number of shootings and a couple deaths since I have been here. All of this just opens the door for us to go in whatever the situation and conditions in the future. They never forget when their personal needs are met through ministry!

It is such a blessing to be able to bless the less fortunate little ones!!! Isn't she cute?

It was a blessing to have Pastor Pedro of Iglesia Evangelica "Comunidades de Formacion Cristiana" out there with us to be able to minister to the large Hispanic population that resides there. Pastor Pedro's church is located at 5516 Roxboro Rd. They share the building with Christian Assembly Church.

The youth were passing out sheet sets that were inside a pillow case. They walked throughout the area blessing people with them.

SUNDAY ---- It was a huge blessing for us to be asked by New Hope Church of Durham to be part of their 10 year Anniversary Celebration. Part of the day was their people bringing in coats to donate which all went to us. It was so cold that morning. In the 30's with a wind and mist!! I about froze to death!! I kept thinking about the streets of Chicago and how I was ever able to handle wind chill factors of 40-50 below under expressways??? My blood has definitely thinned out!!!

We stuffed the van full from the front seats all the way back. I would guess that we have a couple hundred coats. Thank you Pastor Benji and the people of New Hope Church of Durham and the surrounding areas.

MONDAY----Three happy guys getting ready to go and eat at McDonald's. I had just got done setting them up with coats. Michael (front) is an extreme alcoholic. He told me today that he really needs to get his life right with Jesus. He has to bring me a signed bulletin from Pastor Fitzpatrick at One Love Ministries to continue getting food from this ministry. Ricky (back left) is supposed to be going in Durham Access to get dried out then will do a bit of time then he wants me to disciple him which I am glad to do. The hispanic gentleman is homeless and lives in the woods. I am going to be hooking him up with another homeless hispanic that is on fire for Jesus at a different camp.

What Place Does Jesus Really Get In Your Life?

Recently I have been feeling conviction in my heart for not really placing JESUS above all other things in my life. Many of us that profess to be Christians will say that HE is first place. How about the old line that so many of us use….”God first, family second and our profession third then everything else falls in after that”. How often we do not tell HIM the truth. What if we really did place him first in our lives? What if HE went ahead of your spouse? What if you gave your spouse the same treatment that you give the Lord? For many that would mean only talking to them on Sunday mornings! For some that would mean not talking to them at all because some do not even have a relationship with him while at church because they are there for the “social club” instead of HIM. The divorce rate would sky rocket because we could not stand to be treated the same that JESUS is! What if we really placed HIM above our jobs or professions? Many would be fired! My BIBLE says that if I seek HIM first that HE will add everything else unto me! I have walked this and personally been able to see that HIS WORD is true!!!

Matthew 6:33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need.

WHAT IF we would give JESUS the same time as we give to our favorite NFL team? WHAT IF we would spend the same three hours in God’s Word that we spend watching that game???

WHAT IF we would have our children spend the same amount of time studying God’s Word that they spend playing video games of watching the television???

WHAT IF adults would spend the same time in the Word as they watch the television???

WHAT IF we were as loyal to JESUS as we are to our boss at work???

WHAT IF JESUS was as important as the children’s sporting event???

WHAT IF we would take the one thing in our life that occupies the most time and give JESUS that same amount of time??? Many would say that would not be possible because they could not get everything done in “their life” and that is where the problem really is. We can not really place HIM first because the world has moved in and controlled our lives.

1John 2:15 Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. 17 The world is passing away, and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of God lives forever.

God’s plan never was for us to get so caught up in the world’s ways that we would become so ineffective for HIM! If we truly are “in Christ” we should separate ourselves. People should see us as much different. So many that profess to be a Christian blend right into the world so no one can tell any difference.

Romans 12:1 Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

We could go on and on with the things that take our time away from truly living for and serving JESUS. The bottom line is that many out there know how to play out the role of the “typical American so called Christian”. Why are so many foreign countries sending missionaries to our country today? They know how messed up that those who profess to be Christians in this country are! They know that most that profess to be Christians in this country are not going to share “their faith” with others! Many seem to think that they are saved and going to heaven and that is enough. What will it really be like for them when they have to stand before a RIGHTEOUS GOD and give account for the way they lived “their life”??? Can one stand before a RIGHTEOUS GOD and hear the words “well done good and faithful servant” without having other souls connected to them???

Proverbs 11:30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, And he who is wise wins souls. ---- wouldn’t this mean that he who does not win souls is unwise???

Matthew 4:19 And He said to them, "Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men." ---- if HE wanted them to be “fishers of men” don’t you think that HE would expect the same from us??? I have friends ask me about going fishing and I tell them that I go fishing every day! When the story swings to fishing for souls the fishing conversation usually doesn’t last much longer.

We seem to have that way of speaking the “Christianese” language that we know so well. Everything will sound really good that comes from our mouth’s especially on Sunday mornings. WHAT IF we really lived out the songs that we sing to the Lord? Think about this….if we sing those songs and do not live them out what does that make us out to be??? Take time to really think about the words that you sing to the Lord. Are you really singing them to the Lord or are you just singing??? What if we really lived out the words that we speak? What if we truly "walked it" instead of just "talking it"???

Before the critics start sending me rebuking comments I want to say that in many cases there is nothing wrong with doing different things in this world. What is wrong is when we give more devotion to things of this world that we do to JESUS! We must give balance to the life that we live with the heavy side going to HIM! I know that I must give the ONE that died on the cross for me what is due to HIM! I was stirred at 5:00 a.m. this morning with all of this heavy on my heart. My flesh wanted to stay in bed. I am tired of my flesh having its own way! I am tired of not being the best that I can be for the Lord! I am tired of giving the devil pleasure by conforming to different things in this world. Dying on the cross was the most HE could do for me….living for HIM is the least that I can do!!!

Galatians 1:10 Obviously, I'm not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ's servant.

Durham Streets Update!

DURHAM -- Durham police is investigating its third homicide since the start of the new year. This news has the community raising their voice to put an end to violent crime.“That's my blood, that's my baby, that was my child,” said Angel Harris.

A family is mourning after a drive-by shooting in Durham Sunday night left two people dead on Dawkins Street.

“I was upstairs and next thing you know by the time I came down here a whole bunch of shooting came through the door,” said John Lewis, a friend to the victims.

Police were called to the scene just after 9 p.m., but by the time they arrived on scene, it was too late. Timothy McGhee was found dead inside, and Paul Noel Jr. died after he was taken to a nearby hospital.

Durham police say this incident marks the second and third homicide since the start of the new year. It's a statistic that has the community raising their voice to put an end to the violence.

“The crime needs to stop. You all need to come together. There's a crisis out here right now,” Harris said.

However, as loved ones are left cleaning a scene they hope to forget, a neighborhood remains in shock and a family is left looking for answers.

“I know there's someone out here that knows some information, so if you do please let them know. Please let the Crime Stoppers know,” said Harris.

Durham police have not named any suspects in the case. They're asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at (919) 683-1200.

A group of us from Durham Ministers In Prayer went out to this crime scene this past Tuesday to pray. It is very sad to see a neighborhood so messed up due to most likely gang and drug activity.

This was the house next door to where the double murder occurred. It is full of bullet holes. I had stopped down the street after all the other ministers had left to talk to a senior citizen. He spoke of the neighborhood being out of control and how the gangs had taken over.

This is the front door of where the murders occurred. As you can see all the bullet holes in the door and in the door casing. What a way to live??? After I had finished talking with the senior I had walked back to my van and came across a couple family members. Another family member came out and I spoke with them. I ministered to them about the importance of having the Lord in their lives and truly living for Him. I gave this some food then prayed with them. I will be returning to walk this neighborhood at different times of the day and night in attempt to reach some of those that are causing the problems.

Last night I received a call from a homicide detective with the Durham Police Department. She asked me if I knew anything about pennies with crosses in them being in front of the crime scene. I said that I did and that I was the one that had tossed a bunch of them in front of the house. She said that the detectives have been discovering them at crime scenes and they were not sure if it was gang related or church related. She then asked me what the reason for putting them there was and I told her that it was to hopefully make people think. It is always an open door for me to run across people in the different neighborhoods and for them to find out that it was me that put them there. I run across people with them on chains around their necks, on their shoe laces and in their wallets. The pennies are an excellent witnessing tool!I started a new type of ministry today to the skateboarders. Chris Hull who is a good brother in the Lord has had it on his heart to minister to these youth. We are going to do an outreach to them soon. Some of them were using some pretty foul language prior to me walking up to them with some snacks and I was able to minister to them. I will continue to stop by that location and build relationships.What a blessing it was to have Katherine Evans make these homemade cookies for me to pass out to people on the streets. Just like the smiles on the cookies they bring smiles to the people's faces! This couple is in a mess! Someone stopped and gave them my name to get some help. April is pregnant and is sick with a bad head cold. Blake and her were panhandling for money to be able to get a room. They called and asked if I could give them money for a room and I told them that I could not but I would help them with food. Someone else stopped and gave them money for the room just before I arrived. I talked to them about their situation and the importance of having a true relationship with the Lord. I believe they are going from church to church right now just to see what kind of help they can get. I told them that they need to help themselves by getting jobs so that they can have some self worth. There are so many in the Guess Road area living the same way as this couple. Tomorrow they will begin another day of hoping that they will have a roof over their heads tomorrow night. It comes to a time when people like this need to make a decision to help themselves and quit living this type of life. They are both very nice but what they need to do is turn their lives over to Jesus and quit living in sin then He will direct their steps! Easy to tell them but so hard it seems for them to take hold of it. I will continue to help them as long as they are taking steps to help themselves.

TV's For Sale....Money To Be Used For Getting Soul Winners To New Orleans!

Next month we will again hit the streets of New Orleans witnessing for JESUS!!! Flight costs are up this year and we are trying to raise some money to help some of those that have a desire to go and attempt to win the lost. Today, Scott McClintock took me to the Econolodge in Butner where the owner was upgrading televisions and all of his bedding. The van and Scott's truck were loaded! I will be selling the tv's and using the bedding for the less fortunate and the homeless.

I think that some of the tv's are 19" and some are 21". Anyone that makes a donation can have one. I will be placing them on Craig's List also for $40 a piece.

I have 14 right now on the bus and will be getting more on Monday. I will also be picking up more bedding too! This sets us up real good for the big outreach coming up on the 21st.

The reason is that going to a big event like this and being around another 350-400 other soul winners gets a person fired up. Eileen and I started going in 1998. The Lord knows that we need more people on the streets of Durham doing His work! Last year the flights were $180 and this year they are $300. We also like to be able to help with a donation to Pastor Troy's camp.

I have been extremely busy on the streets and again have fallen behind on my posts. The holidays always tend to be so busy and so many people's problems come to a head during this time. One thing that I know for sure is that heroin is the main tool that Satan is using to destroy people's lives in Durham right now. Crack ruled the streets when we first arrived but it has sure changed.

An update on Heather is that she was still coming to Durham until totallying out her mom's car recently. She was not injured at all. It is a good thing right now that she can not come here! She is still continuing with the program and remains off of heroin. She continues to stay in touch and is hopefully going to church with her mom.

One prostitute that remains heavy on my heart is Brittany. I was suppose to have lunch with her this past Friday. She did not show then I found her in a parking lot. I called out to her then she saw me and started apologizing. She then turned toward a vehicle with a pervert waiting for her and said "I have to take the $120". I have not seen her since. I know that she does not want to be on the streets but I can not pin her down to be able to talk to her about getting help. She was the one that I was talking to about me seeing two prostitutes killed since I have been here and she said that she has seen seven killed. I wonder if any of them are ones that we have been looking for, for so long???

Some of you know Ricky. Ricky evidently has a warrant and is turning himself in later this month. He has found a woman that he is interested in and she has guided him to get his life in order. He is asking me to come and see him while he is in jail. He also says that he wants to get into the Word while he is in there and then come out different. He looked me in the eyes while having tears in his and said that he was going to need my help. Praise the Lord!!

April remains locked up in the county jail and I am trying to get on her contact list. I know that the jail is much better for her right now compared to being on the streets.

I know that this does not look like someones residence but it is for two men. Javier and Leon live in the middle of this brush. They have been there for over 2 years now. I thought that they had moved until running into Javier in a Mexican restaurant last week. This is Leon. Leon went over the edge after loosing his wife to cancer. He started drinking extremely heavy and ended up losing the two houses they owned along with all their belongings. He just totally gave up on life. Just imagine the Lord putting me back across his path now. Leon is doing much better than he was. He is at least talking with me now about getting into God's Word. Javier is doing very good and is in church every Sunday. Javier actually told me one time that living the way he does her in the U.S. is better than what he had in Mexico. Both of these men work in construction on a regular basis. I believe that Javier is taking care of family members in Mexico.

I asked for permission as I always do to take pictures. Some homeless do not let anyone go back to their camps. Imagine having to live in these conditions. When I came across Javier it was getting into the 20's at night and all they had was one blanket a piece and a kerosene heater. We have supplied them with a number of blankets now.

I have so many situations that I am working with out on the streets right now. Sometimes it seems overbearing but the next day I am ready to hit it again. Praise the Lord for giving me the strength and hunger for the lost. I strongly believe that some of these people are close to making some huge changes in their lives. Glory to God!!!

MARDI GRAS 2012

Anyone interested in going to share the GOspel on the streets of New Orleans during Mardi Gras??? This year it falls from February 16th-21st. Please contact me as soon as possible if you are interested in going.

The reason that I like to see local people go is that it will energize you to be on the streets in our area telling people about JESUS! When you around 300-400 other passionate soul winners it does something to you!

In this crazy world that we live in we must get more passionate about winning the lost to Jesus. The devil has so many fooled and on their way to eternal destruction. Prayerfully consider making this trip to help you catch fire for the lost!!!

Cold Weather Coming....Time To Get The Cold Weather Gear Out!!

Angie Ashby and I hit the streets this afternoon in an attempt to get people ready for the cold weather coming and to get them some food. Although some of my Indiana buddies will think that I have completely wimped out, it was very cold with temps in the low 40's. Too cold for me these days!!!This picture is a little dark but we had just finished talking with this lady who lives back in this area that looks like a dump. In the cooler was water that she had to go somewhere to get. She has to go everyday for water??? Sounds like the old days but it is very sad that there are people that still live that way in our own city! We loaded her up with some food which she said that really needed. If there is anyone out there with a large kids wagon that they are not using she sure would like to have one. She said that it would make it much easier for retrieving the water.
Angie was in the van getting the people of the Hoover Road Projects what they needed. This brother was getting his kids geared up for the cold weather. It was something to see him because Eileen and I had ministered to him and his wife when they lived in the McDougald Terrace Projects.
This young man was getting all equipped. He kept asking Angie for a different pair of gloves because he could not find the perfect fit. He was keeping a tight grasp on the package of brownies.

This grandma just stood back and did not ask for anything. If we asked her is she needed anything she would tell us. She got the biggest smile on her face after I put this coat on her. It fit her very well and Angie got a scarf and gloves for her too! We gave her some food that she really needed too!

We had a number of people that came to the van in the 45 minutes that we spent there. Many young people that were very respectful. We will be returning there later in the month to distribute more coats.

Have You Complained About Your Life During This Holiday Season?

Have you been complaining this Holiday season about how things are not good for you? Have you been complaining about gifts or money or things just not being the way that you want them for yourself. Let me tell you a little story that will most likely make you feel pretty good about your life and situation.

I just came across this picture this morning never knowing how much it would mean to me later in this day. The hand I looked at today as I sat across from a heroin addicted prostitute in the McDonald's in the Village had a similar story. The hand that I can not get out of my head was covered with needle scars and recent marks from plunging a heroin needle into it. It had scabs that she later showed me were all over her arms. She told me of how she attempted to get help recently but because of the green puss and blood oozing from the wounds they would not let her in. She also has hepatitis C. I had to ask her for her clothes sizes so I could get them to Dean & Melissa Padgett who are going to assist me in working with her. She wears a size 3 pant and she said that she is getting smaller every day. She is so tiny! She said that she goes days without eating. When we entered McDonald's I told her to order whatever she wanted. She ate the McNuggets like they were a big steak. She asked me if I would mind if she had an ice coffee too wish I again told her it was anything she wanted. Another prostitute had come in and started drinking from her ice coffee and eating her food which she seemed to not mind. It a phone call from her this evening I learned that the other prostitute had stolen the two gift cards that I had given her for later. She then went out trying to sell them to get drugs. Needless to say that prostitute will get nothing in the future until she is ready to make some changes. I had told her earlier that she had to have a signed church bulletin from Pastor Fitzpatrick of One Love Ministries to get any further food.

I am not going to give a name on this woman for several reasons. How this all started was one day about a month ago I saw her on the streets and asked her if she wanted help. Her response was that she loved getting high and did not want to waste my time. I was surprised at that response but also appreciated her honesty. She had left a message on my phone while I was visiting with friends today. She was crying and calling out for help. She told me how she had lost my card and that she had to pay another prostitute for my number. How sad is that? I know who charged her and I will deal with that later.

It was so sad to hear her story as she told me of being an addict coming into this world because of her mother being addicted. She told me of being molested not by males but by females. At the age 3 she had a curling iron stuck up her and this abuse continued by the females for years. She told me of her mother saying that from the time she came out of her womb that she had done nothing but mess up her mother's life. Now her mother expects her to prostitute herself so that she can support her prescription drug addiction. Her mother has told her that she wishes she would die. Her father shacks up with another Holloway prostitute and he is an alcoholic. The only clothes that she has on the ones on her back. She told me of having to go into the bathroom after the different "johns (perverts)" to wash her underwear. Tonight (Christmas Eve) she will sleep in an abandoned house. I know many tonight that are in the same position. My heart breaks for them!

Now, do you think that you have a bad life? Did you have a bad day? Did something not go right with the Christmas Eve dinner? Are you not satisfied with the Christmas that lies ahead for you and your family tomorrow?

Because of family coming in from out of town that she has let down in the past she will not go into rehab until after the 1st of the year. I hope to talk her out of that so that she can get the help that she needs. I do not know how she can live that much longer in the condition she is in.

I think we all need to look at how blessed we really are. We need to look at those love ones that we have around us and not take them for granted. As I have said before, if you are married you need to love your spouse as though you will not have them tomorrow. Think about the times that you do not treat those you love right then if something happened to them and you did not have the chance to make that situation right. I am thankful that there was nothing left unsettled between Eileen and I. I was not perfect but I tried my best to treat her as a queen. I am so sensitive today to seeing couples disrespect each other. I seem to see it alot now and more times than not I say something to them. Treasure your spouse and treasure your loves ones. Do not take things for granted. I know a woman laying in an abandoned house right now that would love to have your life!

Ricky, Ricky....He had a great time on his birthday! My prayer for Ricky is that he comes to the true knowledge of the Word of God. Ricky believes that he is saved but of course does not live his life for Jesus. Ricky is much better than what he has been in the past but without repentance and a change in his life his final destination is hell. Please join me in lifting him up to the Lord!

This lady was so helpful getting things ready on Saturday morning. Eileen and I knew her from when we first got to Durham but had not seen her for a long time. I ran into her last week while I was getting a new battery put in the van on Holloway Street. I seen her looking at the van and then she walked over to me and said that there was a ministry like mine a few years ago. She told me of how awesome the lady was and how she helped her. Then she said "RAVEN, that's it" and just started going on and on about that ministry. I let her finish then told her that was us and that we had changed the name. Then she said "where is your wife at"? Then I told her about Eileen and she was saddened but then said there is no doubt where she is at.

I have to learn about this instrument. I was able to hear it some and it was awesome but never got over to it. A first of course for our outreaches. Cindy Ribet is from Christian Assembly. A huge thank you also to her husband Victor who headed up staying up all night cooking the pork and chicken. 180 plates containing pork & chicken were served to the people! Praise the Lord!I know that there was some powerful ministry going on at this table!!

We were able to form a circle (a tight one at that so we could stay warm) and pray for these two. They are excited about changing their lives and that is so exciting for us!!!

I am sure that there was nobody out there yesterday that does not know who Ricky is??? Ricky is a trip! Yesterday was his birthday and hard telling whether he has ever had a cake with his name on it. Ricky started this "muscle thing" last week when we were hanging out at a bus stop. I told him that day that I had larger arms than that when I was in the 3rd grade. The other guys that were with us starting cracking up and so did Ricky. Ricky has came a long way but he still has a ways to go. He thinks that he is saved but the only time I can get anything into his head is when he does not have a crowd that he can work. Pray for Ricky to come to the true knowledge of what it takes to be a Christian.

THE GOSPEL CHOIR - Now I know that there was a hint of brothers and sisters in here but folks this was not "the average white choir". These folks can "sang"!!! Great job, got the people dancing and praising our King of Kings!!!

We had a crowd! Pastor Dub and I estimated somewhere around 150-200 people attended the outreach. It was a great turnout for a December outreach. Praise the Lord for temps in the low 50's at least for the start. The last prayer huddle got a little tight for warmth purposes.

More on the Streets of East Durham 12-15-11

It was another great day of ministry in East Durham today. Jill was not the only thing going on today. There are so many hurting people on the streets. I want to again thank Jim & Angel Clements. They are the owners of the new awesome coffee house..."Koinania" located in the shopping center at the corner of Miami & T.W. Alexander. The sweets that they donate to the ministry bring big smiles to many folks on the streets!!!I continue to run into Calvin on the streets. They needed blankets because of the cold nights. He continues to live in an abandoned house and is now hooked up with a woman of the streets. It is time for both of them to make a choice of what they are going to do with their lives. They both know better than to continue doing what they are doing. At this point they just love sin more than they love Jesus. Close to the point where they will just have to let the devil take care of them if they do not want to change.
Tina was one of three new homeless to Durham. They were all very hungry so I set them up with a McDonald's gift card a piece and some extra food. There were a number of other people who were needing food yesterday. This is just a time when many are hurting and it seems like the homeless population is really growing. The thing they must understand that Jesus is the only cure to all of this mess.
These pics are of some awesome artwork that I just noticed yesterday in an underpass. This is right in the hood. I wish that I would have been able to see who did this to talk to them. What a powerful message for all to see in a heavy traffic area. Here is the scripture......

EMERGENCY UPDATE.......

I met with Jill again this afternoon. When I told her that we had the money for the rehab to begin on Monday she was overjoyed!!! She wept as she said that she just wanted to be a good mother to her kids! Not only is she coming to the outreach on Saturday but she is bring her mother too! She said that her mother was probably going to be even happier than her.

Next week she plans on looking for a job and checking into going back to school. I forgot to get sizes when I met with her but I am waiting for her to call me. I want to thank all of you that jumped on this to make everything happen. I will be getting some others involved to go and do some shopping for the family. She told me this morning that all that her 5 yr. old was wanting for Christmas is a toy dog that is on a leash. She said that would not be possible because the dog is $50. I told her tonight that her daughter would have the dog too. More tears!

I had a great talk with her about having a true relationship with Jesus. It is exciting to work with someone that truly wants to get their life right. There are so many scammers out there!

Again, thank you so much to all that donated to this. If there is anything left it will go to other last minute things that pop up for the holidays. I will continue to keep you updated as to what is happening with Jill.

EMERGENCY CHRISTMAS SITUATION!!! I NEED SOME HELP!!!

I was so broken to see Jill (not her real name) on the streets of East Durham this morning. She is white female, blond hair and was not wearing much for clothing. She was working the streets. She is from another town close to here but comes here to support her heroin habit and to attempt to get things for her 1 and 5 yr. old daughters. I spent about 45 minutes with her today. Part of the time tears rolled down her cheeks because she is so tired of doing what she has to do to keep from getting sick from heroin withdrawals.

I have been on the phone this morning with a program in Johnston County that can help her. This is going to cost $130 to get her into the program and it will cover her first week of treatment. I am going to be talking with her dad and also her mother to line up the $80 a week that she will need after that. We are also going to be looking at Medicaid as an option for this. I have made arrangements to have her start the program on Monday morning.

I tried to talk her into leaving the streets this morning but she said that it was not going to happen because she did not want to get sick. Heroin addicts will get like an extreme flu sickness if they do not have the drug. I have also contacted Chevette Moore (who has recently started working with me along with her husband Keith) to get involved so that I have a woman involved in this. Chevette will be going out to speak with her this morning.

Now is where you come in! I pray that the Lord will touch some hearts to help with this. Help with the $130 would be nice. I would also like to bless this woman with Christmas presents and most of all the 5 yr. old. The one year old needs clothes mostly but presents would also be nice. The 5 yr. old just had a birthday on the 2nd of this month where she did not get anything. Tears rolled down mom's face as she told me this. She has promised to come to the outreach on Saturday where I would like to have these things to give her then.

Please let me know ASAP if you wish to help with this. I have dealt with many addicts on the streets but this one wants help!!! I have also talked to her about plugging her into a sound church because as I told her "a program is a band-aid but JESUS is the cure"!!! She is in agreement with me. She even called her mom while I was with her and told her that there was a pastor that wanted to help her (again the tears rolled). Mom thinks she is working a job in Durham but also fears that she may be prostituting. Please, please help me to help her!!! I have known two prostitutes from this area that have been murdered and I would hate to see something happen to this woman! I want to see this lady transformed by the RENEWING OF HER MIND!!! I will keep you updated on her.

Streets of Durham/Monday 12-12-11

I stopped by the Koinonia Coffee House to grab some of their donuts that they did not want to go to waste then I was off to the streets. Thank you Jim and Angel for donating the donuts! All week I will be getting flyers out for the outreach on Saturday.

This brother from the McDougald Terrace Projects asked me if I had anything sweet. His eyes got real big when I opened the box. He took them and immediately started sharing them with others.

The other box I took out at a busy bus stop in Wellon's Village. Another place to share the love of Jesus and speak His Word!Such a blessing to be able to get these flyers done for free all the time. A huge thank you to B & J Custom Printers for helping the ministry!

Cecil is homeless and hangs out in the area of the parts stores on Holloway Street. He has two years of college but just gave up on doing the regular job thing. He fixes cars in the parking lots for people and that is how he survives. He did not have any money to get something to eat today so as you can see he is holding up his McDonald's gift card. These things are so nice to have on hand. A huge thank you to all that have helped with the gift cards!

I handed out cards to others today too. A first and very sad thing today was coming across a mother/daughter prostitute team. I have ministered to the daughter on several occasions but was so surprised to have her introduce the lady with her as her mother. After coming around the block I saw both of them get into a "perverts" car. The daughter does heroin and the mom smokes weed???? So sad!!!

DURHAM COUNTY JAIL REPORT......

Had another fantastic time of ministry tonight in the Durham County Jail. I had around 20-25 guys. The most sincere guy in there told of how he was in for his 76th time. Can you imagine that. He told me that just after I refered to people getting out then going back in and how that relates to......

Proverbs 26:11 - As a dog returns to his vomit a fool returns to his folly.

This inmate also asked me to call his father and talk with him which I did. His father was very thankful when I told him that I would be glad to work with him and try to help him when he gets out. Another inmate asked me to call his dad too who is a preacher. I talked with him also. They both thanked me for ministering and offering to help their sons. Pray for Eldon & Daryl.

I ministered to them on the fact that JESUS was the only one that was going to change their lives. As we have always done I ministered on being a TRUE CHRISTIAN and not being a fake that just shows up for church then never walks the walk.

Most of them had already heard about Eileen. She is even missed in the jails. The staff also really misses her. One lady that ministers with another group asked where Eileen was and I told her that she was with Jesus! She was so surprised but rejoiced because of where she is at.

Pray that fruit would begin to appear from the jail!!! I pray in the precious name of JESUS that inmates will come out and be part of this ministry!! It was so nice tonight after preaching a tough message to them to have nearly every one come up and shake my hand and thank me for being there. It is such a blessing to be able to minister there!

We Need McDonald's Gift Cards

It is getting that time of the year that I do alot of ministry in and with McDonald's. We use them often as far as feeding people in need. With the weather starting to change I like to be able to give the homeless and less fortunate a $5 gift card to get something to eat. If I am in a position to take them there I do and just buy their meal and will sit and talk and minister to them. It is just when I do not have time I can give them a card and they can grab something. I immediately cut them off if I hear of them selling the card to get drugs or alcohol. We really have not had much of a problem with this.

East Durham Street Stuff......

I was back out on the streets today. After dropping off food to the seniors I went down Holloway looking for a few people. It was raining so there was no one on the streets then all of a sudden I started getting flagged down. I was hoping to see April (prostitute), I am concerned about her because I have not seen her at all. The bad thing is that shooting heroin all the time, she could be dead in an abandoned house. She told me how dealers will put stuff in the heroin that can kill people. Please pray for her!!!

I was first flagged down by Calvin who I met just last week. He had the biggest smile on his face and was much happier than when I found him last week. He boasted about his new shoes and how comfortable they are. He said it is so nice to go around with dry feet. (things we take for granted) He is still staying in an abandoned house and is very concerned about getting arrested. I gave him another person to talk to that may be able to help in then I will follow up when I get back from Indiana.

Next it was a prostitute that I had not seen for a long time. She told me of how she had got shot by mistake in a drive by. She received two bullets to the leg. I have spent so much time ministering to her and I used this in attempt to get to think again if she would have died by getting shot. She listened again...pray for her too! She had not eaten so I hooked her up with some food. She asked me for another one of my ministry cards so that she could talk to me more. She is one that does call often. She needs to get out of Durham!!!

Next it was a guy named Willie who I have not seen for a long time. He and his girlfriend were good friends of ours. His girlfriend is no longer with him but they remain friends and I was blessed to hear that after so much ministering by Eileen and I that she was clean. She has quit alcohol and drugs and is doing well!! She got out of here and moved to Smithfield. Willie needed some food and I directed him to where I wanted him to start attending church. He is a good guy and I believe that he will attend the church and continue getting himself together.

I love ministering on the streets of East Durham!!!

A Great Week Of Ministry....Finally Getting Caught Up!

I have had some real good ministry on the streets of East Durham lately. It has been good because it has kept my mind occupied. I am going to lump all this into one post. The holidays have always been very busy for us. We always get alot of needs for people that open the door to sharing the Gospel with people.

I was out on the streets and I ran across a guy named Calvin. Most homeless are scammers but Calvin was for real. Calvin told me of how he was back slidden and his life was falling apart. It was raining the day I came across him and in the pic above he was showing me how his shoes were split and he said his feet were cold and wet. I had some people coming with food and other supplies so I told him to stay put while I had to go see someone for a minute.

I hurried down the street to see someone then headed for the shoe store to get Calvin a new pair of shoes. He was so happy when I removed the shoes from the box. He had told me previous to this that he was not going to ask me for anything other than wanting me to go to the laundry mat so he could wash his clothes which we did later.

After talking with Calvin about getting his life back on track with Jesus I put a "I am blessed" hat on his head! I truly believe that Calvin will get his life straight with Jesus and that things will be turning around for him!

I received a call from a Durham police officer last week and he told me of some people who were covering all 50 states in one year working with the homeless. He told them that he knew someone that could get them to the homeless in Durham. He put me on the phone with them and we made plans to head out the next day. They had the two pickups loaded with food and other supplies.

I hoped to get an e-mail from this group but have not received it yet. I know the female is Shea and her boyfriend is Shane but I am not sure of the other persons name. I thought is was cool how these young people had such a heart to cover all the states reaching out to the lost. If only we had more with the same heart!

I was so blessed one day last week to get Pastor Jonathan & Vickie Leake of New Bern to come out and join me. We had a great time talking at lunch earlier in the day then they went to a doctors appointment then surprised me with a call saying that they wanted to hit the streets. This couple is going to do some big things in the future for Jesus!!! Just wonderful hearts!!! I will be going there to help them do some things in the spring.

It was so awesome the way the Lord covered filling the van up with food for the less fortunate! With everything going on with Eileen I was not able to make any plans for the holidays. I just thought we would have to not be involved this year but the Lord had everything covered. I want to thank New Hope Church of Durham for giving us Turkeys. I went and bought hams to go with them and also 80 lbs. of sweet potatoes. I want to thank Fred & Gail Augustine for giving us chips and other snacks which were distributed. A huge thank you to Food Lion (TW Alexander) for helping as they always do with a gift card, food boxes, and other things!

I want to thank Dana Wadford Stansbury who called with can goods among other things that were collected by employees of Duke Medical. As you can tell, Dana was not excited about having her picture taken. Dana is the daughter of my late buddy Pastor Don Wadford who went home to be with Jesus just 5 days before Eileen.

The focus for this year was going to be on helping the seniors. Junior & Dorothy Alston have been with us for nearly the whole time we have been in Durham. Their ministry is to take food to the shut in seniors. Eileen and I have gone around with them and met many of the people. Many are grandmothers who have their kids, kids because they are out on drugs or prostituting.

Junior and Dorothy hold one of a number of turkeys they will distribute.

Mike Perra came out to help me get the food to Junior & Dorothy. He helps Dorothy organize things.

Junior & Dorothy were so happy and excited to get the goods out to those in need!!!

INDIANA MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR EILEEN.....

Pastor's Dave & Jeaneen Klahr will host a memorial service for Eileen on Friday, December 2nd from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. It will be held at New Creation Fellowship 30190 C.R. 10 in Granger, Indiana. This will be a time of lifting up Jesus and remembering the life and service to Jesus of my wonderful, beautiful, precious wife!

This is the church where Eileen and I attended for 8 years while living in Indiana. The pastors poured into us and had a hand in training us up to prepare for for the ministry that the Lord was going to entrust us with. I am looking forward to seeing all the friends and family that are back home.

Durham County Jail/Streets

I was back in the Durham County Jail this evening. This was always one of Eileen's favorite things to do. We always have people now that we know from the streets. It was a little rough getting going not having her with me. I told the inmates what happened and some showed real sadness.

I ministered to them about being a real Christian. So many of them as so many in many churches profess to know him but they do not live for him. In the jail I use primarily the same scriptures....

Matthew 15:8 "'This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me; 9 in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.'"

Luke 6:46 "Why do you call me 'Lord, Lord,' and not do what I tell you?

Titus 1:16 Such people claim to know God, but their actions prove that they really don't.

We did have a powerful service tonight. Many of the guys opened up with what was going on in their lives and I would immediately take them to scripture concerning their situation instead of letting opinions go forth. At one point I pulled an obituary out for a gang members funeral that was killed in a drive by at three in the morning and it turned out that the driver of the vehicle that was struck was sitting right next to me. He went into detail about the whole night that his friend was murdered. He told me that was why he was seeking a relationship with the Lord because with all the gun fire he thought he should have been dead too. I put it out to all of them again that I would help them when they got out....all they have to do is call.

I also ministered to April again today. I ministered to many others on Holloway Street along with buying a bunch of McDouble's for some hungry guys. A great day of ministry and a great time of healing for me. How I miss my partner though!!!

I was back out on the streets of East Durham today! I passed a prostitute that I had not seen for a long time. I went and delivered some food to some seniors then went back to attempt to find this woman. I found her in the same area and pulled over to talk to her. As I talked with her she told me of how she was no good. She sipped from a tall beer can hidden in her coat so that she would not be noticed by the police.

I asked her what would happen to her if she died today? She stayed away from answering but started opening up with me concerning her situation. Her and her husband are extreme drug addicts with their primary drug of choice being heroin. She said that they were "plungers" meaning that they plunged the needle into their arms. She told of dealers that would sell a combination of milk and sugar that looks like heroin. She said if you shoot that you die so that was one of her fears. Her husband is in such bad shape that he does not make it out of the abandoned house they live in and he knows that she prostitutes herself to get their drugs. So sad!!!

Even with all of this she reminded me of how Eileen and I gave her blankets last winter and they were the same ones they are using now. She told me that it was really starting to get cold at night and that she needed more. I told her that all she had to do was call me and name a place and I would bring more to her. She also stated that they needed coats. I said that I would get those along with a shirt that fits because her breasts were nearly fully exposed. At that point she pulled her coat over herself.

She asked me to pray for her which I did. I told her that when she got to the end of herself that I would get her help and into a rehab. She said that she no longer had any love for her husband and that she was getting close to getting off the streets. Eileen and I have heard that so many times. I also reminded her that I have had two prostitutes that I talked to just like her that have been murdered in our 3 years in Durham. She told me that she knows of many more than two. It is so awful that she has to live in such a mess. April is 26 years old and has been addicted to heroin since she was 18 years old. Pray that April calls me or that I cross her path. I would so much like to get her to a sex related rehab in Ft. Myers, Florida. She is really a sweet person deep inside. I thought she was wanting to take my hand to shake it after I prayed for her but she took it and kissed it. How I wish that she was not out there on these streets tonight!

Wouldn't you know that as I was talking with her a couple walked by and I heard the woman say "look at him, he has Jesus on the side of his van and he is talking with a prostitute" while shaking her head. When will people wake up?

My beautiful wife of 27 years went home to be with JESUS at 4:45 a.m. It is something because 3 years ago this very day we were just arriving in Durham.

My lover, my buddy, my partner, my sweetheart....she was everything after Jesus of course.

I am going to miss you so much sweetie! I wish that I could have gone first but I would not want you to go through this. I am so happy that you are whole again in the presence of JESUS! I can not wait to see you again but I know that I have unfinished work to do. I thank the Lord for giving me such a precious gift. I love you and miss you with my whole heart!

I continue to get blessed by different people sending me things concerning the impact that Eileen had on their lives. Here is one from a special friend that we have not seen for a long time. We did not spend much time with Mari but the time we did spend was great!

Mari, I know that you will read this. I remember you so well and I remember our time together like it was yesterday. I remember the zeal that you had for learning to minister to people on the streets! We were on the corner of Broadway & Wilson and it was freezing cold! We were clothing the people and serving up some hot chili!! We were also accompanied by our great friends....Pastor Lance & Leigh Prathaftakis and Apostle Steve & Jodi Ignowski of Elkhart, Indiana along with other soul winners too! GREAT MEMORIES!!! Eileen clowning and promoting the winter clothes.
Eileen was never intimidated by anyone. She would share the Gospel no matter how big they are! NO FEAR!!!

You may not remember me.. My name is Mari and I met you and your wife a few years back during an outreach you all did here in Chicago on New Years Eve of 2005.

I just wanted to say that I am sorry to hear about Eileen and I just wanted share a little with you of how you and your wife blessed me in the brief time I spent with you.

I was 25 years old and in a season of my life where I just wanted more of God and was tired of "Christianity as usual" ...I somehow found out about Raven online and saw that there was an outreach in my city coming up. So I grabbed my best friend and said we are ending this year serving others and doing something of eternal value to the Kingdom. So we showed up never having met any of you, simply with a heart to join you guys in serving. I was so inspired and challenged by how much LOVE was OOZING out of you both. I had never done any kind of street evangelism and didn't know what to expect. So I meet this gorgeous woman in army fatigues who was just smiling from ear to ear in the FREEZING cold! It was below zero that day... I watched her share the love of Jesus, welcome every person that came by with so much joy in her face. She was so kind to everyone and didn't look down upon anyone no matter what they looked like. I thought to myself "I want to love people like that". My friend Melody and I walked with her around the block to see if we could find people in need and invite them to come get some warm food and clothes. She unashamedly shared the gospel with every person we invited. I only met her once but I believe that the Lord allowed me to meet her so that some of that fire on her life could jump on me and cause my life to burn for Jesus.

I was motivated to go on missions that year... I went to Uganda Africa and Brazil in 2006, and saw the Lord do amazing things. I also met my husband in 2006 and we were married 7-7-2007 :)

How the women of the McDougald Terrace Projects love my beautiful wife!!! I will have flyer's printed up and deliver them to the different areas that we minister in inviting all of them to her "Homegoing Celebration" soon. How I would love to hear some of them share their thoughts concerning my precious Eileen. Many of them will be heartbroken!

We thought Eileen was going to leave us this afternoon but she continues to hold on. Again, I really expect to get a call tonight. We are ready for her to depart. There was no communication between us today (at least that can be seen). I miss my wife!!!

Something I Must Address.....

I must take a minute to address something that I have heard mentioned several times concerning Eileen and I. There are some out there that think that our faith has weakened and we gave up. That is FAR FROM THE TRUTH!!! Eileen received from the Holy Spirit early on that she would not be healed on this earth and that her healing would take place in heaven. After she told me this my spirit was linked... with hers. NEVER has our faith been stronger!!! Would I love to have my wife back healthy??? I sure would!!! I ask that those of you that have started this kind of talk would cease it now! I am tired of hearing it and it is a lie from the pits of hell!

Try walking in our shoes before you give your diagnosis of us. Let me take that back...I would not want anyone to have to walk in our shoes since February 3, 2010 when Eileen was first diagnosed because it has been extremely tough. The one thing that I do know without a doubt though is the fact that BECAUSE OF OUR FAITH we are stronger Christians than we have EVER been! You can take a situation and either "get bitter" or "get better"....we made the choice to get better! ALL THE PRAISE TO THE MOST HIGH!!!

Not much change today. They put a face mask on her for oxygen and it makes me think of life support. Tired of seeing my wife this way! Ready for her to go and be with Jesus! I know that it is not my timing but His.

Highlight of the day....I put on the praise & worship music this morning when I got there. I was praising the Lord and talking with Eileen even though I could not understand much of what she was saying when one of her favorite songs came on and she slowly raised one hand in the air to PRAISE HIM!!! She did not keep it up long but it was so awesome to see her do that in the condition she is in.

The nurse said that she is definitely in the final stages but not sure how long she will last. I miss her so much already!!!

EILEEN UPDATE......

We thought that Eileen was going to go home this afternoon. She was really in bad shape. She continues to hold on, her breathing was calm and very peaceful before I left a short time ago. Our daughter and Eileen's mom are spending the night there tonight. The doctor came in around noon today and said with the noise coming from Eileen's lungs usually the life span is from a few hours to a day. This is estimated from other patients that she has had. We know that it will not be long.

I did receive a massive blessing this morning! I was driving to the hospice home and was thinking...."Lord, I hope that I can spend some more time with my wife". My request was granted with over three hours of communicating with her. She spoke with our friend Sherry French and also talked to a relative on the telephone. It was so special to have that time with her. It made my day!!! Oh, how I love that woman!!!

Another blessing was being able to take Zeke (our Rhodesian Ridgeback)into see her. Zeke jumped up into the bed careful to not step on her (usually it does not matter to him if he steps on you) but he carefully walked in the small space up to Eileen's face where he planted some kisses on her then he went to back down to her feet and laid down. What a blessing to see his love for her.

This afternoon I whispered in her ear that we were all going to be all right and that we were ready for her to go and be with JESUS! I will keep everyone updated on what goes on from here. God Bless!

Tonight at 7:00 p.m. a medic unit arrived at our house to transport Eileen to a hospice house. Her condition continued to worsen throughout the day.

I had gone out to the sunroom to spend some time with her then I could not take it any longer so I went to my office and just stared out the window weeping. When the medic unit pulled up I lost it. My time living with my wonderful wife of 27 years had come to an end.

I have said this before but I am being led to say it again....do not take your spouse for granted! You do not know how long you have with your mate! How I wish that I had Eileen back healthy like in this picture. How I wish that we could do things together! I do get to go see her in the morning (providing she makes it through the night) but when she is gone I am going to miss her so bad!!! What a blessing the Lord gave me when he hooked us up! I LOVE MY WIFE!!! You take the time to love your wife or husband too!

Our good friend Pastor Don Wadford went home to be with the Lord today, he too had cancer. When I told Eileen she said that she had been thinking about him alot today. Is was awesome she said that because I did not think that in the condition she was in that she could be thinking about much?? Our prayers go out to Deborah and the rest of the Wadford family.

I do not think that it will be long before Eileen's goes home also. She is considerably worse than yesterday. I really believe that we are looking at just days now. I feel that strong in my spirit. I praise the Lord for the 28 years that He has given me with her. Thank you JESUS!!!

Eileen is not asleep in this picture. She has occupied my chair and I have speakers on each side of it that makes it so nice to listen to praise & worship. She is meditating on JESUS here! She loves listening to Kim Walker and other good praise & worship.

Hospice was here today and we informed them that Eileen is totally dependant on the oxygen now. Her blood pressure was also pretty low. She is not eating much of anything. She is very tired. Every time someone comes by or calls she wants to turn the focus off of herself and check to see how they are doing. She hates to be waited on. She has always loved serving others. She is so special!!!

Eileen's condition continues to worsen. It is getting harder and harder for her to breathe. She started on oxygen yesterday and is also taking some new meds that were started by Hospice. She is extremely tired and has no appetite.

I am so sorry for those of you that did not get the cancellation on the outreach today. There was just no way that we could do it with the condition of Eileen.

OUTREACH CANCELED - TO BE RESCHEDULED

I am very sorry for all of you that have been looking forward to the outreach tomorrow. Not only because the weather, but I am just feeling overwhelmed. It is not suppose to quit raining until sometime in the morning then a high around 50. I doubt that the turn out would be good with this kind of weather.

The biggest thing is that Eileen is not feeling well at all. She told me earlier that there would be no way that she could make it tomorrow. Her coughing is getting worse and she is sleeping much more. I would not feel good about leaving her for that long. With everything going on with Hospice and with doing things at home I have not even been able to get everything ready.

We will freeze the food that we have already purchased and keep the gift cards for when we reschedule. We thank those of you that helped us purchase the cards! Again, I am sorry but I just do not feel good about doing this outreach. We will reschedule as soon as we can.

Eileen and I want to thank Joe & Sara Call of the Worship Center in Durham for allowing us to park our bus and trailers on their lot. Since moving we have had them in two different locations but have had problems with getting stuck in the mud. Now we are back on asphalt!!! PRAISE THE LORD!!! I can not stand to have the Lord's equipment filthy!!! I took everything to the car wash today then parked them. What a wonderful feeling to know everything is right down the street!

The Worship Center has live praise & worship every other Friday night beginning at 7:30 p.m. and it is awesome. Again, thanks Joe & Sara...you are a huge blessing to us!!!

I just about forgot about the gift cards for this weekend's outreach in the McDougald Terrace Projects. The outreach is Saturday from 2-5p in the park.

Eileen Update.....

Severe coughing continues to be a problem for Eileen. Last Friday her doctor prescribed morphine for the cough. It has helped but has not stopped it. A problem now is the side affects of the morphine. Eileen has been very tired and taking several naps a day not including the time that she sits with her eyes closed in her chair. Her appetite is just about completely gone. She is eating very little. I am trying to get her to drink Ensure drinks to try to get the nutrition that she needs.

It is so tough sitting with my wife and listening to her cough and not be able to do anything about it. This morning she told me that she has had two times in the last couple days that she felt like she was suffocating. She looked at me and said "I do not want to go that way". All this aside, she still plans to be at the outreach sharing the Gospel this coming Saturday.

Thursday we will meet with Hospice. I am watching my wife go downhill and it hurts! I love her so much!! Please continue to pray for her as I know so many of you are already doing. God Bless you all!

Finally Getting Caught Up

We received some hats and flip flops from a Food Lion store. We will take whatever we get and use it to minister with. We were able to bring smiles to many faces with these items along with some food items also. Pastor Don Eskine and I took the items to the McDougald Terrace Projects.

This senior was happy to receive a hat.
It is such a blessing to give things to these kids and see the smiles come across their cute little faces.

She was so excited to get the pair with all the different colors!

The boys wanted to get the hats on too! This is all planting seeds in these kids to be able to have favor with them and be able to sow into their lives in the future.

Everything has been busy for the last couple months. We have of course dealt with the health issues but we have also had alot of great ministry on the streets! I apologize for not being too good at reporting things lately.

Along with the streets we have had a great time in the Durham County Jail ministering to the inmates. We are now getting some that call and are wanting help. We attempt to work with them in getting a job, help with food and most of all...discipleship. I am working with a guy now that gave his life to the Lord while in jail and while he was in jail his wife started seeing someone else. They have four kids. I am working with him and will possibly be starting to provide marriage counseling to him and his wife. We supplied them with food this week. It was sad to see him open the refrigerator and see nothing in it then open a chest freezer that had nothing also. We were able to give them food that would last at least a week.

Another area of ministry that is growing is with kids which actually are now young adults who I have worked with in residential treatment centers in the past. It is a blessing to me to have them contact me after several years and to know that I developed a relationship with them that would make them want to still talk to me. In this job sometimes I would have to put them in a physical restraint. Regardless of all that I always tried to show them the love of Jesus!

Tonight I was out on the streets by myself. It was a special time ministering to prostitutes. Most of them were females but there were two males out there too. I stopped and got $20 worth of McDouble's at McDonald's. It is something how much a $1 hamburger opens the door to be able to minister into people's lives. It seems like every time I go out by myself the streets are loaded with prostitutes. I gave them all something to think about tonight. I pray that they are able to leave this horrible lifestyle and get their lives on track. Several of them wanted to know how Eileen was doing.

Eileen will say things and it comes to me so strong that people need to hear what she is saying! I love her so much and am so proud of her. I look at what the Lord brought us out of and if He did it for us he can do it for anyone. My wife is such a warrior for the Lord. She often shares with me about being able to spend time with Jesus. It is so hard to talk about death with the one that you love. For those of you that do not know, Eileen feels very strong that her healing will take place in heaven. I too feel that in my spirit. Please don't think that we have a lack of faith because we don't. Would we like to see her healed here? We surely would! With her leaving for a week it is going to show me what it is going to be like without her. I just can not imagine it and I fight back the tears right now.

For 27 years we have been together. For 13 years we have ministered the Word of God together on the streets. To think of not having my partner beside me is so hard! The Lord has blessed us to be able to minister His Word all over this country. (all over the Chicago area, Detroit and other southern Michigan areas, New York City, New Orleans, Philadelphia, York, Pa., Northern Indiana, San Francisco, Mexico, Canada, Miami, Daytona Beach, and now in the Raleigh-Durham area. I know that there are people in all these areas that my wife has affected for Jesus! I know that there are people in some of these areas that have shed tears because they love her and what she has input into their lives. I can not go out on the streets without someone asking about her.

Yesterday, although getting news that we did not want to hear it was also such a blessing. We were the only ones at the hospital that were having a good time. We were joking and I was getting Eileen laughing. It seemed like no big deal to be there. I looked at the other people around us and they seemed to be already dead. I thought....do anyone have what we have? Do any of them know JESUS? Will they die without him and spend eternity in hell? All we can do is pray and attempt to reach as many as we can! We are so blessed to be called children of the MOST HIGH KING!!! Thank you JESUS for saving us!!!

I encourage others to love their spouses with a passionate unconditional love! Don't take anything for granted. Don't waste time arguing about things that in the long run are not important. Live each day like you may not have another one with your spouse! That is what we are doing now! I love her so much!!! I just want to cherish each moment I have with her. I pray that you do the same with your spouse! I just got back from dropping her off for her trip. I miss her so bad!!! I am just so glad that one week from today I will be able to hold her in my arms!!! I do not know how many more opportunities I will have to do that. The thing is that you do not know either! Take advantage of the time you have! God Bless!!

Apology

My last post on here was "Stuck on Stupid" and I must apologize for that one. I posted that with anger in my heart which was not right. The Word of God is clear that we battle not against flesh and blood.

Ephesians 6:12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the world's rulers, of the darkness of this age, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

The person that made that comment about Eileen is controlled by the thoughts of Satan. I apologize to that person for referring to them as stupid. Instead I lift that person up to Jesus, the One that can set him or her free of those type of thoughts! The One that can give him or her a new mind with new fresh thoughts. The One that can give him or her eternal life!!!

This morning I woke up early thinking of the following scripture in Romans 12. The Lord took me back to the last post I made and I kept hearing "repay no evil with evil but repay it with good". As I said in the last post, I pray that the person never has to experience what my wife has had to experience. I truly hope that one day I can meet the person that made the comment and know that have been forgiven and hopefully are born again! Whoever you are I forgive you and you have my sincere apology for what I said about you.

Romans 12:15 Rejoice with rejoicing ones, and weep with weeping ones; 16 minding the same thing toward one another, not minding high things, but yielding to the lowly. Do not be wise within yourselves. 17 Repay no one evil for evil. ARE YOU A SINNER?

This has been stirring in my heart. I woke up a little before 4:00 a.m. this morning and started thinking about this again. I got up and spent nearly 5 hours being led by the Holy Spirit through the scriptures. It was a wonderful time with the Lord! I hope that this will be beneficial to many.

The people of China speak Chinese. Many people in today’s churches speak “Christianese”. We hear things inside the church walls or when fellowshipping with those that we attend church with. I do not say “fellowshipping with other Christians” because not everyone that attends church is a “Christian” but that is not the topic that I am focusing on right now. People will hear things so many times that they become scripture to them. I have been guilty of this myself. This happens because of our laziness to studying God’s Word. So many will listen to a pastor and whatever he says they believe. Many churches today will say whatever is pleasing to the people to keep their numbers up and to keep the check in the plate every Sunday. Praise God for those churches out there that are not “people pleasers”!! We must all dig into God’s Word so that we know whether we are being led in the right direction!

Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being a priest to me.

I do not know how many times I have been in churches, meetings or fellowshipping when I hear people say “we are all sinners”. I am not a sinner!!! A sinner is someone that practices sin! As the definition below says “voluntarily violates the law”. This is making a decision that you are going to commit a sin. If one chooses to look at porn and then practices that sin they become enslaved to the sin. We have had prostitutes that say that they are Christians. They can not be a Christian because they willfully make a choice to practice what is opposed to the Word of God.

Sinner
SIN'NER, n.

1. One that has voluntarily violated the divine law; a moral agent who has voluntarily disobeyed any divine precept, or neglected any known duty.

2. It is used in contradistinction to saint, to denote an unregenerate person; one who has not received the pardon of his sins.

3. AN offender; a criminal.

Do you voluntarily commit sin? Are you an unregenerate (not reformed, obstinate, stubborn) person? Are you an offender and a criminal? Some people will get all excited saying that “we all sin” and they are right! I am not saying that I do not sin. I do not practice any kind of sin nor should anyone that carries the title of being a Christian!

1John 1:8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and his word is not in us.

We that carry the title of being one of His, of being a Christian, of being “Christ-like” or a “follower of Jesus Christ must strive for His perfection. We can not live like the world all week then on Sunday’s put on our Christianity! We can not say that we are “just weak” in areas of sin and think that a righteous God is going to give us immunity from that sin! God’s Word is very clear that those that practice sin will not inherit the Kingdom. Look at the following verses…..

1Corinthians 6:9 Do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor abusers, nor homosexuals, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

He says the same in the following verses….

Galatians 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, 21 envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Then again in the following…..

Revelation 21:8 But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death."

He is not saying that he will put up those that practice sin. They flat out will not inherit the Kingdom! I hear people say “I am still struggling with this sin”. They are still practicing the sin that they supposedly gave up to follow Jesus. One in this state needs to get saved!!! The following verse makes it so clear.

1Corinthians 6:11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Verse 11 is saying that some of us “were once” caught up in that sin. I once was a drunkard, I once was a drug user, I once was a womanizer, I once was a thief, and much, much more but I got born again!!! I was washed in the blood of Jesus! I was sanctified and set free! Notice the beginning words of that verse “and such WERE some of you! No longer that way! I was made “a new creation”, the old was gone and all things became new!!!

2Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

The Word of God is so clear! Why do people try to justify their sinful lifestyles? Why do people want to gamble with their eternal lives? I believe that this is part of the reason as to why Matthew 7:13-14 and 1Peter 4:17-18 read the way they do. People are being duped into eternal hell by the devil’s deception that it is ok to hold onto sin.

Matthew 7:13 "Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. 14 For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.

Again, Jesus made it perfectly clear that the road was going to be rough. He made it clear that it was going to be hard, that if was going to be difficult. He also made it clear that not many would want to do what it took to enter through the narrow gate. Not everyone that says that they are a Christian are going to be in Heaven!!! People need to wake up!!!

1Peter 4:17 For it is time for judgment to begin at the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God? 18 And "If the righteous is scarcely saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?"

There will be no free tickets for anyone! We are all going to be judged for what we did while in these earthly bodies.

2Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.

Romans 2:16 on that day when, according to My gospel, God judges the secrets of men by Christ Jesus.

Some think if you said a prayer once in your life that you were given a “license to sin”. I will not get into that right now but all I will say that if one wants to believe that they can but I will live each day like I can still fall into eternal hell. If I am wrong I have nothing to lose but if the one that believes they can continue to live in sin is wrong they have EVERYTHING to lose! Why does He say “if the righteous are scarcely saved”? If it was that easy everyone would be going to heaven. There would be no reason for that verse to be in the Bible! Many that are righteous will give up the race before crossing the “finish line” meaning when they stand before the Lord in their righteousness. I have witnessed many fall away from the Lord including pastors, leaders and others! They were at one time strong in their walk with the Lord. Some I walked the streets with and witnessed their powerful walk! In Matthew 24 it says that even the elect will turn away. It also says in the same chapter that “the one that endures to the end will be saved”! That verse is also very good in making it clear the difference between the righteous, ungodly, and the sinner. The ungodly and the sinner are not going to heaven, only the righteous!

The Word of God is so clear in saying that one that practices sin is of the devil. We choose as to whether we are going to be a “child of God” or a “child of the devil”. We have that free will to make that choice.

1John 3:4 Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness; sin is lawlessness. 5 You know that he appeared to take away sins, and in him there is no sin. 6 No one who abides in him keeps on sinning; no one who keeps on sinning has either seen him or known him. 7 Little children, let no one deceive you. Whoever practices righteousness is righteous, as he is righteous. 8 Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil. 9 No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God's seed abides in him, and he cannot keep on sinning because he has been born of God. 10 By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God,

How can anyone read the previous verses and think that they can continue a sinful life and still call themselves Christians? NO ONE keeps practicing sin after coming to know Him! WHOEVER PRACTICES SIN IS OF THE DEVIL!!!! You can not make it any more clear! Verse 9 says that a person can not go on practicing sin because they have been born of God!!! Verse 10 says that we will know who is a child of God and who is a child of the devil and that if you are not practicing walking according to the Bible that you are of the devil and on your way to eternal hell!!! In Matthew 7 it says that you will know them by their fruit. You either are producing good fruit or bad fruit!

1John 2:29 If you know that He is righteous, you may be sure that everyone who practices righteousness has been born of Him.

2John 1:9 Everyone who goes on ahead and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God. Whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.

3John 1:11 Beloved, do not imitate evil but imitate good. Whoever does good is from God; whoever does evil has not seen God.

So many professing Christians want to “lower the bar”. They want to justify their sinful lives. They end up getting many to “follow them”. That is why we have so many churches and denominations. People want the “BK church”. Just like when they stop into Burger King, they want it “their own way” in the church they will “be comfortable” in attending. In today’s smorgasbord of churches you can kind any flavor that you want. For example, if you want to justify being a homosexual you can find many churches today that will say it is ok even though they go against God’s Word. Can you believe that people are so ignorant as to fall for this??? The devil sits back and belly laughs because he has these people tricked into eternal torment in hell!

In wrapping this up I want to look at a little more scripture. I hope that this will be used to help people to take a close look at their walk in this world. I have nothing to gain by posting this other than the fact that I do not want to see people tricked into spending eternity in hell. One thing I can say for sure though is that no one reading this will be able to stand before a RIGHTEOUS GOD and say that they were not warned.

John 8:31 So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him, "If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." 33 They answered him, "We are offspring of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone. How is it that you say, 'You will become free'?" 34 Jesus answered them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin. 35 The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. 36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. 37 I know that you are offspring of Abraham; yet you seek to kill me because my word finds no place in you. 38 I speak of what I have seen with my Father, and you do what you have heard from your father." 39 They answered him, "Abraham is our father." Jesus said to them, "If you were Abraham's children, you would be doing the works Abraham did, 40 but now you seek to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God. This is not what Abraham did. 41 You are doing the works your father did." They said to him, "We were not born of sexual immorality. We have one Father--even God." 42 Jesus said to them, "If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and I am here. I came not of my own accord, but he sent me. 43 Why do you not understand what I say? It is because you cannot bear to hear my word. 44 You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies. 45 But because I tell the truth, you do not believe me. 46 Which one of you convicts me of sin? If I tell the truth, why do you not believe me? 47 Whoever is of God hears the words of God. The reason why you do not hear them is that you are not of God."

Breaking down John 8 we look at verse 31 and it says “if you abide in My Word”. Abide meaning to dwell, rest, continue, stand firm, or be stationary for anytime indefinitely. This means of course that you can not pick and choose. You can not have it your own way. It must be HIS way! In doing this you become a true disciple (follower). In verse 32 it says that the truth will set you free. If you are truly “in Him” his truth will set you free of the bondage of sin that you were previously in. In verse 34 it says that when we practice sin we become a slave to that sin. That sin controls our life and becomes what controls our minds. In verse 36 it says that if the Son sets you free then you are free indeed! This again is a good place to see if you truly are still “a sinner” or are you truly born again. If you are still in the bondage of sin you are still under the authority of the devil. It may be a situation where one must seek deliverance. Again, you in no way can practice sin and still call yourself saved! In verse 43 it questions as to why someone can not understand what Jesus it saying then it verse 44 it gives the answer and that being because they have a different father that they are listening to. They are not listening to God’s Word but listening to their true father the devil and are fulfilling his desires. In verse 47 it is so clear that whoever is of God hears the Word of God and with that they follow His Word. Many do not want to hear his Word so they do not follow it because they are not of Him. They have set themselves apart to being a child of the devil. They have separated themselves from the Lord and have chosen eternity in hell!

John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.

Even David after falling into sin made it so clear in Psalm 51 as to what needed to be done.

Psalms 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. 11 Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. 12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit. 13 Then I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will return to you.

He asked the Lord to cleanse his heart and to renew a “right spirit”. If one is carrying sinful spirits within them then they are still in the bondage of the devil. If we are truly in Christ we should carry the joy of our salvation. In verse 13 he says that he will teach “transgressors” the Lord’s ways. If we are truly in Christ then we are not transgressors. It also makes a very valuable statement in saying that he will “return sinners to Him”.Another translation says "Then I will teach transgressors Your ways; and sinners shall be converted to You". The key word being "converted". To be converted means to be changed or turned in another direction.

This makes it clear that "sinners" have separated themselves from the Lord. If one has separated from the Lord then how will they spend eternity with Him? This is where REPENTANCE comes in. We will sin but we must be quick to REPENT of that sin and do our best not to return to it. We must use that time of falling into sin as a way to strengthen our walk with the Lord.

I feel very strong in my spirit right now that there are many out there that need to read what the Lord has stirred in me to put out. I hope that this is passed on to those that you know that may be struggling in their walk. People must know the truth. We must snatch people from the grip of Satan!

On Sunday morning, February 20th of 1994 in the Worthington Hotel ballroom in Ft. Worth, Texas I went from being “a sinner” to becoming “a saint” and into the righteousness of Jesus Christ! I no longer practiced any sin!!! I was saved from that previous sinful life! I was set apart! That “old man” was dead! I was indeed a “new creation”! Reborn in Texas!!!

NC Gay Pride Parade 2011

This was our prayer for today that someone would come from the demonic bondage of homosexuality and be set free. We prayed that we would see these people through our eyes and not let our flesh get in the way. It is very easy to become angered at an event like this. It is open sin thrown right in your face. We were cussed out before the event even started by passer-bys. We were looked at with disgust by many that passed by. Probably many that will sit in a church on Sunday morning. Standing for JESUS can be real tough sometimes. Personally, I would rather walk in an alley filled with gang members than minister at this event. We pray that that the seed that was planted in someone that we spoke to today will change a life.
Mike Perra prays with a man that came up early in the day. He ended up staying with us the whole time and later wanted to hold the cross. He thanked us at the end and we all hugged him and thanked him for standing for JESUS! Why is it that so few that call themselves Christians will take a stand for HIM???
Some of the team lined up along Swift Street. A few showed support but most were against us. Not really against us but against the ONE that sent us! Much of today was targeted at opposition to God in different ways.

Matthew 5:10 "Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

2Timothy 2:12 Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, 13 while evil people and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.

David Goins of United For Christ Church. Elder Wade Bowick does a great job of getting his people out on the streets. As usual they put more people on the streets than any other church. Thank God for those that come out. When you think that 11 people from Durham and two guys from Hickory, NC. were the ones that stood against this sin today it is sad. Thousands represent the devil but so few for the Lord....I just don't get it???

Elder Wade and Carol Amey minister to a lesbian couple. It was very clear that the woman on the left represented the "male half" because the other woman never opened her mouth. There is so much control and abuse in many of these relationships. Several of us ministered to them but they always would go back to what a large percentage of these colleges teach today....."who wrote the Bible"? I came back quickly showing them......

2Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,

She said that all she wanted to do was to get married to the one that she loves and not have people go against that. I told her that the Bible was clearly against that and took her to the following scripture....

Romans 1:26 For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature;

Because of the Word being so very clear she went back to the "man wrote the Bible" and it was time to shake the dust for me! I was not out there to argue but to show the truth! I pray in the name of JESUS that the WORD spoken will echo in her mind!

It was so good to see Buddy Fisher and Justin who came from Hickory, NC. I made a point to thank them for coming to our city to minister.

The guy in the black t-shirt saying "pursuing truth" was so deceived. Buddy Fisher told him much truth that he was not interested in listening to. He told us that we were on our way to hell for the way we were ministering. By holding signs with God's Word??? He also said that 1Corinthians 6:9-10 does not say that homosexuals will not inherit the Kingdom??? He said that what it says it not what it actually means. I did not spend much time around him either!!

1Corinthians 6:9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, 10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

Seems pretty clear to me?????

Lady Ga Ga has become a hero to the homosexuals. Her song "Born this way" filled the air. Sad that some that profess to be Christians listen to this woman's music???

A church of the devil from Chapel Hill! There were many other so called churches in the parade. The people from these churches would attempt to taunt us and make us appear to be all wrong??? Very deceived!!!

Again, we are so thankful for the ones that came out to join us today. I did not get good pictures of Samantha Boyd or Carol Amey but thank you so much ladies for coming out and representing JESUS!!! We are going to be working on some things for next year to have better representation next year. This parade was much larger than last year. Momentum in Durham for homosexuals is growing stronger and stronger and we pray that those that profess to be Christians will make a stand with us next year!

August was a very difficult time for us but it was also very much a strengthening time for us both. That is what is important is how you handle trials and tribulations. You are either going to weaken or you will get stronger in your walk with JESUS!! We have gotten stronger and we give all the praise to the LORD!!!

Eileen and I were back in the McDougald Terrace Projects this afternoon. It was such a good feeling to both of us to be back out ministering! It was so good to see friends that we have made there.

It was sad to see the memorial set up for a 17 year old that had stole a car and hit two trees while being pursued by the police killing himself. Death just does not seem to be that big of a deal here. It seems to happen much too often. We must continue to do the work of Jesus in this place so that lives can be changed. Life has to get to a point where it means more.

He had lived in this building. We were also able to distribute some food to the senior couple that we have worked with in the past. They were so happy to see us and know that they could distribute to the shut-ins in the area.

It was a great day of ministry today!!!

COME OUT AND STAND FOR JESUS!!!

This is the gay/lesbian parade that happens every year in Durham. We are going here not as much to "protest" this parade but we are going to "PROMOTE" the "ONE" that can set these people free of their sinful lifestyle. The demon spirit of homosexuality is a huge part of what is cursing the city of Durham. We that profess to be Christians must make a stand for JESUS and also let the people know that SIN is not welcome in our city. Parading sin in the main streets of our city is just like spitting in the face of Jesus! Pray that souls will be reached for the Kingdom!

The best numbers we have been able to get in the past two years that we have been here is around 12. This is opposed to around 3500 homosexuals. Why is it that people that profess to be "CHRISTIANS" will not go and stand for JESUS??? I can hear it now...we have a birthday party to go to....we have a football game that we can not miss....we have a wedding to go to....we are just plain scared???? What will your excuse be??? These people are on their way to eternal hell! Is it ok with you that they go there? IT IS NOT OK WITH US!!!

Be an answer to someone's prayer that their love one will leave this demonic lifestyle and become a child of God!!!

Eileen hosted the monthly Women Serving Jesus meeting tonight at our house. She has had a good weekend and she seemed to handle this very well tonight too. She prepared a peach cobbler for it. I helped her with some other things.

Tonight in the jail was awesome! One inmate had been complaining to the other inmates from the time I walked in about how he was suppose to get out today and how everything was going against him in his life. I was led to tell him what was going on in our lives. Sharing the challenges in our lives seemed to bring the group closer together and the guys seemed to get more attentive.

I wish that Eileen could have experienced it. There were a number of familiar faces in the pod. What was such a blessing was when the different inmates started saying what Bull City Outreach had done for them. One said "they gave me a coat last winter when I did not have one". Another said "they gave me a pair of shoes". Others spoke of being fed by the ministry. Most important was it being said that we minister the uncut Word of God! You do not get that kind of praise in this type of ministry much but it is such a blessing when it does happen.

There was one inmate with dreadlocks that asked about Eileen. At the end of the service he said to tell her that "it is her time". He quickly said "I am not saying that it is her time to leave this earth but it is her time to receive her blessings for all that she has done on the streets". That was such a blessing to hear that!

I ministered to them about having a true relationship with the Lord. I told them that they must love JESUS more than they love sin. They must love JESUS more than they love money! They must love JESUS more than they love sex! They must love JESUS more than they love drugs and alcohol! I encouraged them that if they would truly seek the Lord and put HIM first in their lives that HE would take care of their every need. As we always do I encouraged them to contact us when they get out for discipleship. I told them that we need them on our team reaching the lost.

Got To Get Back To The Father's Business!!!

Eileen and I were in our quiet time with the Lord yesterday when it became very clear to us that we must get back to the Father's business! It is very clear to us that we must get back on the streets and back after those that do not have a relationship with JESUS!!! The Word of God is very clear in saying that in this life we will have trials and tribulations.

James 1:2 Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.

No where do we find that when we are going through things that it is a time to quit doing what HE has called us to do. Although I am not proud of all my behavior during this time of trials. I apologize to anyone that I have offended through any of this. The move was incredibly tough and I was in great pain on a daily basis for close to three weeks. I can not thank my chiropractor (Craig French) enough for helping me get through that. I am still sore but nothing like before! I know that I have been strengthened through all of this. I know that our endurance has been built up through all of this.

1Peter 1:6 In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials, 7 so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 8 and though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory,

This is a time to be praising the Lord for what HE has done in our lives. It is a time to do the work that is pleasing to HIM! Eileen said yesterday that she does not want to leave this earth with anything left in her as far as witnessing to others. As we discussed this further she was basically saying that she still had rounds in her clip and that she wanted that clip to be empty when it is time for her to leave this earth. She longs for all of her family members to have a true relationship with the Lord. We will be back on the streets this week. There is no way that she will live on this earth without witnessing for JESUS!!

We have had to discuss some tough stuff lately. To sit with the one you love and discuss funeral arrangements is tough! To sit and listen to praise and worship music that she wants played is tough! To think of not having your partner of 27 years along side of you is tough! We are going to live whatever time she has left on this earth doing what we have done for JESUS the last 13 years. Reaching the lost!!!

We continue to thank all of you that have helped us through all of this. So many of you have been a massive blessing to us. God Bless you all!

The last couple weeks have been very tough for Eileen and I. Putting a move on top of Eileen's health has been a real challenge! Last week it was up at 5:30 to get to the University of North Carolina Hospital for her 7:15 appointment. Then it was to our chiropractor (Craig French) for the first of two daily visits most days. This was from messing my back up early in the move.

Eileen has been having some real challenges. Yesterday was probably one of the toughest days that we have had. She was very tired and run down. Today she is back up and rolling again. She got out some today and has been feeling pretty good. Praise the Lord!

Tomorrow I should wrap up things at the other house. Meaning that this move is just about over!!! We have been at this for over 3 weeks! One thing that we have learned and been able to experience is the importance of being in the Word of God on a daily basis. With the load on us and from Eileen not feeling well we have not been in the Word the way that we are used to doing. The Sunday before last it was such a blessing to just stay in the new house and soak in the Word. Monday it was back hard at it and missing the Word again. I do not know how people live without Jesus??? I was feeling like Peter when he got out of the boat when he took his focus off of Jesus. I was starting to sink. I do not think that there has ever been a tougher time in our lives than now. We must stay focused on HIM!!!

It is such a wonderful feeling to be back to our quiet time in the mornings with the Lord again! We also had an awesome time in the Lord at Bethel Christian Center yesterday! Looking forward to being able to get back out on the streets soon!

Eileen had a better week last week than the prior week. She started taking a steroid last week which made a quick change in her energy and alertness. Her main problem right now is that she is coughing very bad to the point that she can not get to sleep then it wakes her up during the night also. It wakes me up too making it very hard for us to get rest. The cause of the coughing is that she had to go off of the Tarceva (chemo pill) that was doing a very good job of holding the cancer in the lungs in check. She could not take the radiation and be on Tarceva. She will be able to go back on the Tarceva after she concludes the radiation treatments next week. All of our appointments this week at the University of North Carolina Hospital are at 7:15 a.m.

We are still trying to get moved which has also put a huge strain on us. I injured my back early in the move and got it again today. Two trips to our wonderful chiropractor (Craig French) today and I am feeling a little better now.

We minister wherever we are at but we really miss our regular stops. We know that we are getting closer to being able to get back out there. Even though Eileen has not been feeling very good she still hungers to hit the streets.

Character Building Days.....

What would we do without JESUS???The last couple weeks have been very challenging! Seeing my wife go through physical pain is very tough! Last week when she came out of the bathroom holding her ribs and with a bloody nose it was very hard to take. All that from dry heaves??? She has not had another one of those attacks in over a week now. Praise God!!!

As some of you already know we received a letter from the property management company that handles the house we rent. It said that the rent would be increasing $300 dollars as of September 1st. There was no way that we were going to pay that kind of money for rent!! So now we are in the process of moving. We started today! Carter Thompson called Eileen and said that a house opened up for rent next door to them. We went and looked at it and knew that it was where we were suppose to go. What a blessing Carter has been to us! There are others that have stepped up to help us too which has been such a blessing!!! We sure did not plan on having more money going out on deposits and rent. We have been blessed to not have to pay rent for two houses so that worked out well. Not a good time to move but is there ever a good time to move? We have to be out of this house by September 1st.

Now next week we go back to UNC Hospital to meet with the radiation people. We will be making 15 more trips to UNC this month to complete the radiation. This will make the move interesting! We are going to have to move things when we can. I know that the radiation will make Eileen very tired. We plan on doing what we can do between now and next Saturday (the 13th) then we will gather some local folks up to move the larger stuff. The following weekend we will be having a garage sale in attempt to gather some rent money and moving funds. That will be Saturday the 20th. If you are local and have items that you would like to donate please let us know.

We know without a doubt that the Lord's hand is upon all this. Eileen is very excited about the move. She loves the house and so do I! Our neighbor is allowing us to keep the bus and trailer on his property since we will now be in a neighborhood. What is really wrong with having a JESUS bus and a couple JESUS trailers parked in the front yard??? Please pray for us that Eileen will continue to not be sick and that she will be able to manage this move. As I said some have already pitched in to help us financially but pray that we have all the funds we need for this. We know that the Lord will provide!!! HE is so good!!!

EILEEN UPDATE

It was a good appointment at UNC today. We met with a new doctor who we really like. Sorry for not reporting sooner but after discussing this all last night and for three hours today I needed a break. Good news was that Dr. Lee said that Eileen's lungs did not look that bad. The worse was the brain. The nausea is coming from the brain and not the chest as we had thought. Now we are meeting again with the radiation doctor on the 9th of August. We most likely will be looking at three weeks of 5 times a week starting soon if not the day of the appointment. Eileen does not want to go through any more of the nausea problems which could increase if we do not go with the radiation.

Dr. Lee is also re-evaluating all of the medication that Eileen is on. She agreed that Eileen has been over medicated to this point which was also a concern of ours. She is also open to helping us get holistic help which has never been an option with the docs to this point. She told us that if we did not want radiation or chemo that she would do her best to take care of Eileen.

We were sitting around this evening and Eileen said "why don't we go out on the streets" which we did. She is not one to sit around and mope. She is always thinking about others.

EILEEN UPDATE

We are headed back to UNC Hospital tomorrow. Eileen has been having some challenges. Last night right after we returned from being on the streets with Mark & Karen Hagwood she had another bout with nausea which was bad. She possibly fractured a rib and ended up with a bloody nose also. I took her to our Chiropractor this morning because she was having trouble breathing deep. She had the same problem the last time the nausea came on but he was able to get her adjusted. Not so this time? That is why Dr. French thinks it could be a fracture. The problem with this is that there really is nothing that can be done with a rib fracture other than waiting for it to heal.

Tomorrow we will be seeing a new doctor. Her old one relocated. We are totally looking at different options of which way to go with this. Because of the last report of the cancer spreading UNC wants her to start taking IV Chemo along with more radiation. We are done with that stuff!!! We will be going over her medications and also looking at some holistic ways of battling this.

Please pray for us! One thing that we do not need is another bout of this nausea to come on with this rib situation. This whole thing has been tough lately. I will give an update after our appointment tomorrow.

HOT TIME OF MINISTRY IN THE MCDOUGALD TERRACE PROJECTS!!!

Dean Padgett and I had an incredible time of ministry tonight in the McDougald Terrace Projects! We parked the van and set out walking throughout the community. It is sad to see how people's minds are so messed up when it comes to the Word of God! We really preached alot tonight on truly living according to the Word of God!!!

The first guy we came across was working the 50/50 plan with the Lord. He served him 50% of the time and attended church every other week and thought he is ok??? As we shared with him we were able to get him to see that he was bound for hell if he did not repent and get his life on track for Jesus. He thanked us for talking with him. Shawn was probably in his mid 20's. Immediately as we finished talking with him Satan sent people up to him to attempt to steal the Word! Pray that Shawn turns to JESUS!!!

We were able to minister to so many people that were hanging out on their steps because of the extreme heat. Dean would be ministering to some and I would be ministering to others. Then we would come together! What a time!!! What a way to spend my birthday!!!

One of the best times tonight was when we were coming up on 4 guys setting on some steps. The one said "I knew you were going to say something to us". I couldn't see them in the dark and asked if I knew any of them. One guy responded "you know all four of us"! They didn't want us to stop because they were drinking. A young guy that had been shot in the leg said "I know you and your wife because you ministering to me in 4B (jail). He showed us how they had to take skin from his thigh to put on his lower leg where he was shot to patch it up. One guy told us of how he was serving the Lord totally because he was facing a 40 year sentence and was released. He said "I know that the Lord did that for me". I then said to him "the Lord may have done that for you but he did not do it so you could sit on these steps and drink Vodka"??? He said he knew the Word so I let him have my Bible and every time he tried to justify his sinful life I directed him to read a scripture. I even held my flashlight so he could see the Word! One time I thought he was going to lose it and get real mad but it was good that he hung in there and was able to see what God's Word had to say about what he was doing. A woman had also came and set on the steps so the congregation had grown to 5 with two preachers!!! We spent quite a while with this group then ended in prayer. We prayed for healing for the young guy that had been shot and that he would think about why he is still on this earth and turn to Jesus!

We had a guy that looked to be a gang banger type that tried to sound like he was living his life for Jesus. After talking to him some he said "grandma made sure I knew that Word as he pointed to my Bible". I walked toward him and said "oh, you know this Word" and he said "I sure do". I extended my Bible to him and said "tell me your favorite verse". He dropped his head and said "I don't know any". I said "who is your favorite rapper" and he said he listens to Snoop Dogg. I said "I bet you can rattle of the words to his songs can't you"? He said again "yes I can". I held my arms out and said "isn't it sad that the one that died on the cross for you, you don't know his Word but you know the words to a song by someone of the likes of Snoop Dogg??? We felt that conviction came over him but also it was sad that this young man was like so many in the churches that really do not have a clue concerning a true relationship with the Lord.

We pray that all these people that we ministered to tonight will turn from their sinful lives and turn to JESUS!!! What a time we had serving the King of Kings tonight!!!

We want to thank Mark Hagwood for his expertise in helping us get the big trailer ready. This has taken a while but it finally for the most part done!Mark works away in the heat!!!At this point I was getting very excited about getting to the point of painting then loading up the shelves!The painting nears completion! We have lights now too!!!

Now we are finally organized with the two trailers, the bus and the van we can take everything to an outreach. We also want to be ready in case of a weather catastrophe. If a hurricane hits the coast we want to be ready to roll! The only thing that we need now is a dually pickup to pull this trailer. It is a very heavy trailer! The Lord knows what we need and we know that He will supply!

We appreciate all those that have helped pull the trailers to the outreaches.

We want to thank Pastor Don & Sabrina Eskine from New Orleans along with Robert & Rose Klous of Lynchburg, Virginia and Rick & Judy Dione of Concord, New Hampshire for purchasing a new sound system for our ministry.

The idea came to Pastor Don as he was staying with us. We had just returned from the outreach and he said that we needed a larger sound system to be able to draw more people in. We put the request out and the money came in! We are very thankful for this equipment!!!

We have been having some good ministry in the McDougald Terrace Projects lately. Today the Durham Ministers in Prayer went there to pray. We prayed on the corner of Wabash St. & Dayton St. This was the site of the latest shooting where 7 people were shot in two nights. Just as the last three of us were getting ready to leave Ralph Thompson pointed out to Jim Clemens and I a white dove on the corner. We had been praying for peace in the projects for one thing. What an awesome sight!

When we went into the McDougald Terrace Projects the lights from police squads filled the area. The police evidently had the same idea that we had.....hot weather....lots of people out? The heat index around 10:30 p.m. was still around 95 degrees!!!
Eileen and I walked through the projects ministering to many. The lady above yelled at us and wanted to talk with us. She said "remember me I am the one that won the WalMart gift card last week and I am the one who you gave the socks to". What meant the most to her was the message that was preached by Pastor Don Eskine of New Orleans. She said "that preacher's message hit home with me and I have not been able to forget it". "He preached it real and hit me right where I was at"! She asked where our church meets because she is so tired of what is going on in her home church and others she has visited. Now she wants us to call her whenever we are in McDougald.

Carolyn also has bone cancer. She told us of her situation then Eileen told her what was going on with her. Carolyn threw her arms around Eileen and hugged her. Carolyn is struggling with alcohol but is free from crack. She wanted to make those that are still on crack to be worse than her. We made it clear that sin is sin and their sin is no worse than hers. We stressed the importance of getting her life on track so that she does not end up in hell.

With many we talked to about the temperature out there but stressed that this would be nothing compared to hell. We stressed the same message in the Durham County Jail earlier in the night.

We got the lights again just as we got out of McDougald with a bunch of squad cars doing a road block traffic check. The police were everywhere tonight!

We finished the night by going through the Hoover Road Projects. There was a number of people out there too. We handed out a bunch of ice cold water as we did McDougald. We heard a guy yell and we stopped. It ended up being a guy that we had ministered to a while back in the Durham County Jail. It was something as he told us what we had preached when we were there. He admitted that he was drunk but it was clear that we had made an impact with him. He wants us to bring him a Bible so that will open the door to be able to minister to him again. We really feel that he is sincere in wanting to change his life. Pray for William!!!

What better way is there than to spend hours ministering to the lost with the one you love! Eileen is an inspiration with her non stop desire to reach the lost! When you have someone like her with stage 4 brain & lung cancer doing what she does there is no excuse for those that do not get off their butts to go and attempt to reach the lost!

Witnessing To A Drug Dealer

I was ministering to a drug dealer recently in Durham. As I talked with him he began to open up more and more. He shared with me that he was 36 years old and has never had a job. He shared that he is really tired of doing what he is doing but he is determined to provide for his kids. He told me as so many do that he did not have a father to provide for him. Every time that he would try to quit selling drugs times would get tough and he would revert back to what he knew how to do. I could tell that deep inside he was a nice guy but was in desperate need of a relationship with Jesus!

He would keep going back to his kids. There was no doubt that he loved his kids even though this was another "baby mama/baby daddy" situation. He went on to tell me that he had been dead twice. One time was from ingesting a large amount of drugs while being chased by the police. He died in the back of the police car just before getting to the hospital then they pumped his stomach and brought him back. The other time was (as he lifted his shirt) showing a larger zipper scar on his stomach where he had been shot. He told me "I think that the Lord kept me alive for my kids". Very quickly the Holy Spirit took over this conversation as I spoke "I don't believe that was the reason at all". "I believe that the reason that you are still here is because the Lord wants to use you"! I went on to share our testimony of how we gave our lives to the Lord and how He takes care of us. I took him to Matthew 6:33......

Matthew 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

He went on to tell me that he prays morning and night and just can not understand why things don't change. I then told him about John 9:31.....

John 9:31 We know that God does not listen to sinners, but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does his will, God listens to him.

I broke it down for him that he could not serve the devil and expect the Lord to take care of him. Pastor Don Eskine had just finished up with who he was ministering to and walked up. I asked him to pull John 9:31 up on his phone so that he could read the scripture for himself.

We continued to talk with him for a while then invited him to the outreach we were having the next day. He asked what kind of hotdogs we would be serving? I told him pork and he said "I don't eat no pork". I said "if you promise me you are coming we will have a pack of beef dogs for you"! Eileen went the next morning and picked up his hotdogs. He said he would be there and he did indeed show up. He said "I wanted to keep my promise to you"! It was a blessing to see him. Now I want to take him to lunch and get deeper into helping him get a job and get off the streets. I do not want to use his name but keep this situation lifted up in prayer!

Does The Lord Hear Everyone’s Prayer? The answer is NO!

During this 4th of July holiday an estimated 62 million dollars will be wasted by this country on fireworks???
At the same time this country is blowing up 62 million, thousand and thousands of kids and adults will not have food to eat or clean water to drink.
Not only does this occur in other countries but we have witnessed people shaking from hunger right here in Durham. We have witnessed two families that shared bread for two days. We have witnessed a young boy being excited about getting fruit and vegetables.

Living in a country that must be "entertained", I wonder how "entertaining" this waste is to the Lord. In this country people have to be entertained at church, entertained with television, entertained with movie theaters, etc. For those of you that like this type of waste could you shoot up a firework while the starving kid above watched you? I think of the thousands and thousands that could be fed and given clean water to drink with this money??? Sure there are all types of waste but I am just pointing out one. When the fireworks are gone they are gone! No one benefited other than the entertainment??? This is why we do not participate in any type of event that promotes this type of waste. This sickens me!

Matthew 25:42 For I was hungry, and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty, and you gave Me no drink;

We went to UNC Hospital today to get the results from last weeks tests. The report was not good. The doctor said that the cancer in the brain and lungs was getting worse. Eileen's body has evidently built a tolerance to the chemo pill that she has been taking. She had been having some things going on that made us want to check everything out. As many of you know, she has been doing very well overall.

We keep in mind that this is not the first bad report that we have received! JESUS is still on the throne!!! We have decided for now to not pursue any further treatment. They talked to us today about IV chemo and more radiation. Eileen went through IV chemo back in 1991 with breast cancer and the experience was not good. Her quality of life right now allows her to do everything that she wants to do. We do not want any of that taken away from her. If conditions change then we will consider what to do then.

My wife is tough as nails! Her main focus is to do the will of her Father in Heaven! She loves witnessing to the lost. I do not believe that there is anything that could stop her from witnessing short of leaving this earth. Regardless of the doctors report she is excited about this weekends outreach. I love my wife so much and I think that she is a role model for people to watch as a TRUE follower of JESUS CHRIST!!!

If you call yourself a Christian have you died to yourself yet??? Is "me", "my" and "mine" still a large part of "your" vocabulary??? Are you living out the following scriptures???

Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ, and I live; yet no longer I, but Christ lives in me. And that life I now live in the flesh, I live by faith toward the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself on my behalf.

Galatians 5:24 But those belonging to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and lusts. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26 Let us not become glory-seeking, provoking one another, envying one another.

1Peter 4:1 Therefore, Christ having suffered for us in the flesh, also you arm yourselves with the same thought, that he suffering in the flesh has been made to rest from sin, 2 in order no longer to live in the lusts of men, but in the will of God the remaining time in the flesh.

If you are saved and born again then you can no longer live the way you did in your former life! That person is dead!! You will continue to grow in the Lord but you can not be a "Christian drug addict", a "Christian alcoholic", a "Christian prostitute", a "Christian gang member", etc. The old is gone and ALL things become NEW!!!

2Corinthians 5:17 So that if any one is in Christ, that one is a new creature; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

Some Interesting Thoughts From Mark Hagwood......

Does a church really have to be four walls, nice carpet, a huge budget, and stained glass windows? Does it need planned meetings on Sundays and Wednesdays and other evenings? Does putting money in designated envelopes or filling up shoeboxes get you into Heaven? Does playing the organ or singing in the choir or teaching Sunday school get you inside the Pearly Gates?

If you answer, “yes” to any of these, please read no more for you are lost. The correct answer is NO! It can be a bus, a van, a couple of trailers, and be available to reach out to the lost 24 hours a day seven days a week. Calling out sin when you see & hear it and holding other Christians accountable when they claim to be Christians is what God wants us to do. He instructs us to be examples of Him. What ever happened to preaching that God will forgive you of your sins but if you continue to sin, God will condemn you to hell! Instead we tend to get the overview of this in generality and hear a feel good message to just tickle our ears. Then you hear WWJD? And see the bracelets WWJD? I think most of us know “What Would Jesus Do”. The question is WWYD? What Will You Do.

I don’t believe we can change the world until we start changing ourselves, our church, and our community. How many of you knew there was a gay club in the Bethesda community? Yes, it is gone now, but it just moved downtown. How many of you ride by the strip club in the Bethesda community and won’t even look at it? And what about the naughty lingerie & toy store on the highway? We are guilty of turning a blind eye to the immoral things around us and doing nothing about them. By ignoring them, they will not go away.

I have been following the comments put on Pastor Terry’s facebook. He does generate a lot of feedback from his postings. But, he has not once put anything on there that he did not follow it up with Scripture. Does he have the best delivery, not all the time, does he make you mad, or make you think? I think most of the time he just steps on the toes of the ones who want it both ways: God’s way and the world‘s way. The Bible is very clear about there is only one way, no compromise.

I will honestly say to you that I am at odds with Terry from time to time on his views and statements. But at the end of the day, I love him and the ministry that God has called him to do. I will not hold back on giving to his ministry just because I don’t agree with everything he says. He is out there doing the work that I believe so many of our community churches talk about doing and don’t.

I truly believe that God has called Terry & Eileen to do His work here in Durham. How many of us would give up everything we have, move someplace where we know very few people, and place our lives in His hands? A testament to this is the fact that their ministry here is flourishing. They are reaching out to the lost and spreading Gods word. There are Christians who support their ministry with money and time. I see the comfort and healing hands that God has laid on them during these times of Eileen’s illness.

In closing, I would like to say that I hope you will pray & consider giving to their ministry, Bull City Outreach. They are trying to reach a lost world and it is next to impossible to do without our help.

Wednesday Night in the McDougald Terrace Projects!

With the temp around 96 degrees we went into the McDougald Terrace Projects with 10 watermelons and cases of water! We were blessed to have Robyn Eason along with her mother of "82" years old along with 8 other women from her Wednesday Night Bible study group. It is always awesome for us to be able to take people out that have not ministered on the streets before. Robyn and her husband Wes have joined us in the past. We were also blessed to have our new friends Jim and Angel Clements join us!!

The ladies stayed very busy distributing water melon, water and loving on the residents of McDougald!
We were glad to see this woman because we have a history with her. So good that she is doing better in her life.

The kids really enjoyed the watermelon!!!

A new friend for Eileen!!! My wife is such a trooper!!! We were 7 hours on Tuesday at UNC Hospital for tests and the next day she is back on the streets! She doesn't make excuses as to why she can't do what the Lord has called us all to do. She stays focused on doing the work of the Lord.

Sheila has been asking us for a large print Bible and we were able to give her a nice leather one that we had received. She was so happy!!!

If you are interested in hitting the streets with us just let us know! We would be glad to take you out! I am sure if you asked the ladies from last night that they would tell you that they were blessed!

NEW SHIRTS ARE IN!!!

The new shirts are in but are you ready to wear one? We are living in a day when we must have (or get) a sense of urgency for the lost. So many are on their way to eternal hell and so few are even concerned about doing anything about it! Think about what it says in Revelation 14:11??? Would you want anyone to go through that??? Think of your family members or close friends....anyone being in constant torment forever and ever!!! The devil has so many deceived into thinking that they are ok with the Lord. This country is a pitiful representation of Jesus Christ!!! So many think that because they go to church on Sunday that they are saved??? The devil sits back and laughs! The majority in this country that call themselves Christians think that because they go to church that they can carry the title of being a "Christian". They think that they can "customize" Jesus to fit "their life". They can fit into the world with "their lifestyle" and that is ok??? Anyone that lives that way is on their way straight to HELL if they do not REPENT!!! That is exactly why JESUS says the following in Matthew 7:13-14.....

Matthew 7:13 "Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. 14 For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.

People must wake up and quit serving the Jesus that they have made up in their minds and start serving the JESUS of the BIBLE!!! Preachers must step up to the plate and PREACH THE TRUTH!!! If not they will stand before the Lord with the blood of the people that they have been responsible for dripping from their hands!

Ezekiel 33:6 But if the watchman sees the sword coming, and does not blow the trumpet and the people are not warned; if the sword comes and takes any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity. But I will require his blood at the watchman's hand. 7 And you, son of man, I have set you a watchman to the house of Israel. Therefore you shall hear the Word from My mouth, and warn them from Me. 8 When I say to the wicked, O wicked one, you shall surely die; if you do not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked one shall die in his iniquity; but I will require his blood at your hand. 9 But, if you warn the wicked of his way, to turn from it; if he does not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity, but you have delivered your soul.

Reading the book "Radical" by David Platt has stirred a number of things in me. Although much of it was not new to me it still exposes how pitiful the typical "American Christian" is! I strongly urge anyone that professes to be a Christian to read this book! Don't let the enemy fool you into thinking just because you go to church and do what so many in the same church (or "social club") do (which in most cases is nothing) that you are saved! We must remember that it is not about a building....WE ARE THE CHURCH...that is those that are TRULY IN CHRIST!!! The Word of God calls US ALL to PREACH THE WORD (Mark 16:15) and it calls us ALL to MAKE DISCIPLES (Matthew 28:19)!!! No one that professes to be a Christian is with an excuse because HE excuses NO ONE!!!

I know that I have probably ruffled some "religious feathers" but I would rather ruffle your feathers now than have you stand before a RIGHTEOUS GOD and be condemned to ETERNAL HELL!!! It is HIGH TIME to quit PLAYING CHURCH and start SERVING JESUS if you are not doing it already!!!

We started out the night with a wonderful dinner with Terry and Eileen. We were able to just say "Thank You" for all the mentoring they've given us over the last year and a half. It was their heart for street ministry that made us realize our common bond. After picking their brain for ministry ideas over dinner, we headed out to McDougald Terrace where the Holy Spirit showed up and showed out :) People were actually stopping and listening to what we had to tell them about Jesus. They were taking it all in. I know the Lord was able to use us to plant some seeds that night, and we are praying for Him to grow those seeds, either with another contact from Bull City or us, or another person that He sends.

As always I am drawn to the kids in the area. I love to see them smile and be able to show them some much needed love and attention. It's painfully obvious that they are craving the love and attention because they're not getting it at home. It was a late, dark night in McDougald, and there were many children running around the area with no guidance. I fell in love with Jordan, the little boy in the picture. We were able to sit down and talk about school and being silly and most importantly Jesus. It was very sad when I asked Jordan why he thought I was out there, and he told me that I was out there to "chill and drink". I assured him that I was not out there to "chill and drink" but that I was out there because Jesus loved him and wanted me to be out there with him. For the rest of the night, even after I left Jordan's building, he kept running up to me, following me through the complex, and finally begged to go home and spend the night with me. If his mom would have let him, I would have taken him with me! Of course his mom said "No"....lol.

I then played with another little girl who was just learning to walk and talk. She was walking around outside in her front yard, sometimes dangerously close to the road. She had on a tshirt and a diaper, and only one tennis shoe. She kept coming in and out of an apartment with extremely loud music and lots of other people coming in and out constantly. I started walking towards the apartment to try and find out who the baby belonged to, and I was overwhelmed with the amount of "weed smoke" coming out of the house. The same house that the baby girl was just in. I asked her to go get her other shoe and she did. I put it on her and carried her on my hip, along with another little girl, and we just acted silly together and chatted for a bit.
By the end of the night I started getting a feeling of danger in the area. I have a history of being worried and anxious about things, so I sat down on the steps and just began to pray. Praying for the Lord to calm me and protect us. I didn't want any evil to come in and steal our moment of evangelism with these people. I was able to be at peace shortly after praying and we were all able to finish up with people.

Lastly for the night we ended up at McDonald's in the Village. This was all absolute Divine timing as it took a series of stops for us to get to McDonald's at this exact time for Terry to minister to two young guys walking through the parking lot. But this was just the icing on the cake for the evening. We were encouraged by the sincerity and desire of these young boys, and we are hoping that Terry's words to them will sprout and take root and being to produce the crop that these boys seemed to so eagerly desire.

We went home excited and ready for the outreach on July 2nd. I can't wait to go back and spend some more time with these folks!

Talked with the guy on the bike. I asked him how his relationship with God was. He said he went to church. I told him that a lot of people go to church but don't have a relationship with God. I asked him about what he wanted to change in his life. He said "Everything". I told him he had to do something different to make a change. He said he wanted to be a better example for his kids and he admitted he didn't go to church and that was living in sin. I told him he would have to choose Jesus and let Him change him. I asked him to call me when he was having a hard time, and he promised me that he would. I also talked to 3 teenage boys and I asked them what they wanted to do with their lives. One of them said that he wanted to be a Pro Basketball Player. I asked him who his favorite NBA Player was. He said Lebron James. I said "What if you wanted to be a great ball player and Lebron taught him. He would probably most likely in the end be a great play. But only if he listened to what Lebron said. I told him that we have a sickness called sin and the only way to deal with it was to listen to Jesus and that he could help them be the best just like Lebron could be with basketball. One boy I noticed had a strong conviction and I told him I could see that God was dealing with him. God met us in a mighty and powerful way. His Spirit only knows what effect that night will have on their future.

Awesome Weekend of Ministry in the McDougald Terrace Projects!!

We had an awesome time in the McDougald Terrace Projects this past weekend. With the hot temperatures there are so many people outside even into the late hours because of their apartments being so hot!

This pic is from Friday night, we started passing out bottles of water and the kids started drinking it and then started a water fight. I guess I would do the same if I was hot like they were. At first we thought of it as waste but then we thought "they all have one bottle of water they can do what they want with it". We just didn't give them a second bottle when they asked.
This lady was very happy to get hamburger buns and she wants a large print Bible which we just happen to have one. She is very excited about the upcoming outreach because it will be right by her apartment.

Dean & Melissa Padgett of Radical Life Outreach Ministries joined us on Saturday night. Eileen and Melissa get a pic with a lady that was happy to get some bread and most of all she was happy that we were out there ministering!

Eileen and I ministered to this man for a long time. He attends a local baptist church but was honest in saying that he is not living his life for the Lord other than on Sundays??

Melissa is a natural dealing with the little ones. There are so many of these kids that are out late at night. The conditions many of them are brought up in have them on a destined to fail path. We all had a great time with the kids and we all had many opportunities to share Jesus with the people. Dean & Melissa will have their comments on the night soon!

I was also able to use my new amplifier that night. There were some teenage girls that were cussing and mocking God. They were very surprised as they walked away when I started preaching. There were amens as I ministered about the conditions of people's hearts and the importance of getting right with Jesus!!! It is awesome to carry an amplifier in your pocket and I wear the headset and then all I have to do is plug it in and I am ready to go!

We continue to need sodas and water. We are going through alot of it! With the extreme temps we are also going to be icing down watermelons this week! Don't forget about the July 2nd outreach! It is going to be good!!!

We are still needing help in the following areas for the next outreach (July 2nd). A problem that we run into is that our regular partners so often end up being the one's that help by purchasing things but then we end up short in our monthly giving which we need to keep everything else going.

Last night Pastor Stuart Aycock (of Bible Believer's church) and I were in the area of Wabash St. and Dayton St. This is located near the border of Lincoln Apartment and McDougald Terrace Apartments. We have been waiting for the Lord to lay on our hearts as to where He would want us to be for the next outreach. Last night as we were standing there it came to me to have it right where we were standing! Less than 2 weeks ago seven people were shot on that corner and they all survived! In talking and ministering to the people last night we found that many are in fear for their lives and even more for their children's lives!!!

WE MUST TAKE THE LIGHT OF JESUS INTO THE DARKNESS!!!

We hope that many can come out and lift up the name of Jesus with us!!! It is sad to know that with a holiday weekend many things will take priority over this. The people that we will be ministering to will not have the options of going to the beach, going boating, going swimming, having big cookouts, etc. Even last night to hear them get bread and say "now I can make a sandwich"??? I heard that many times last night! Some kids even ripped into the bread right away and starting eating it plain!

Your testimony could lead someone to Jesus that day! Prayerfully consider coming out to make this weekend special for the people of these communities! We must learn to take our eyes off of ourselves and lift up those who are less fortunate!!!

Pastor Mac Bare's Thoughts on "Street Walking Wednesday"

Let me put this to you in terms of the people I personally spoke to yesterday on Holloway St.

A woman who used the walk this street, but now has a home and is doing much better physically. When I asked her to talk in depth about Jesus, she could not run away fast enough.

The man on his front porch who claims a relationship with Christ, who offered us his shade, and who listened politely as we shared.

The young lady who was craving crack, sobbing uncontrollably and obviously demonized. We interceded for her and prayed for God to deliver her and give her victory over thoughts of suicide. Once again, she responded to a degree, but ended up walking the other way.

Three young men, ranging in age from 36 down to 16. Cedric is 36 and was grieving the loss of his grandmother (actually his mother). It was a privilege to speak with him briefly and pray for him in his grief. Reggie is almost 21. Terry & Eileen have reached him in the past, so he knows something about walking with Jesus and is attending a local church--praise God! But he still needs purpose, as he will marry in a month and has no job. A young man, 21 years old, sitting in a park on Wednesday afternoon. What is wrong with this picture? Pastor Terry is going to help there.

Finally, Thomas. 16 years old. A Crip since age 9. Why did you join the gang? "I was young and stupid." Would you like to get out? "Ain't no gettin' out now." Do you expect to live to 21? "Maybe a 50-50 chance." In my part of town I'm not used to looking into the eyes of young men who are desperate, desperate for a different life, a different choice, but who have "zero" belief that such a thing is possible.

Thomas broke my heart. Pray for Thomas to find a deep and rich relationship with Jesus. Pray for him now.

David Solomon's Comments on Wednesday Afternoon Street Walking...

Hitting the streets of east Durham this afternoon, I couldn’t help but think of Jesus in Matthew 9:36, when He said, “When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.” I’ve been dabbling in street ministry for several months, but today was different because more than ever, I felt a true and genuine pain for these people. I wanted to do more than just minister to them. I wanted to open my Bible and teach them the Word. Hebrews 4:12 says, “The word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart..” Like anyone, that is exactly what these people need; the living word of God breathed into their lives.

We prayed over a woman who was intoxicated and suicidal. She was screaming in anguish, tears streaming down her face. She had been committed just days before as evidenced by the hospital bracelet she was still wearing. Demons were afflicting her. She begged for prayer, so we prayed over her. She began to walk with us to McDonald’s so that we could feed her, but she ended up retreating. I pray that God will deliver her from her depressions and afflictions.

We ministered to a prostitute. Her attire hardly suggested that she was working, but she let us know that she was on the clock. She assured us that she didn’t want to be out there and that she gains no pleasure servicing her customers. She simply needs the money so that she can eat. We provided her with a McDonald’s gift card hoping that would get her off the streets for at least the night.

We ministered to a man who said that he’d like to follow Christ. He seemed sincere. But he was equally sincere in stating that he was about to do some things that wouldn’t allow him to walk with Christ right now, so he’d have to forgo the walk for a while. This reminded me of the man who approached Jesus and claimed that he wanted to follow Jesus, but he first wanted to await his father’s death, possibly to collect some sort of inheritance. Jesus simply responded in Matthew 8:22, “Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead”. In other words, nothing should ever stand in the way of our walk with Christ.

I could write pages on just the few hours we spent on the streets tonight. But I won’t. Rather, I will continue to pray about what the Lord would have me to do. For starters, I’ll meditate on Matthew 9:37-38: “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” And Romans 10:14-15: “How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”..

Wednesday Afternoon Street Walking

The temp hit 95!!! Man was it hot!!!! But man, was there ever a need!!! David Solomon and Pastor Mac Bare of Day Spring Fellowship on 9th. Street in Durham joined us on Wednesday. It started out slow but did it ever intensify on the streets of East Durham!!!

Here Pastor Mac talks to a regular in "our church" named Ricky. This was the second time of four different times that we crossed paths with him on this day. Ricky, like so many people in this country professes to be a Christian. I am going to try to take him to lunch before long and have a good talk with him. Ricky battles demons and is on his way flat out to hell!!! The next time we crossed paths he was trying to start a fight and using all kinds of profanity along with taking the Lord's name in vain!! David and I stepped in to prevent him from hitting another guy. I clearly told him to quit calling himself a Christian because he is controlled by spirits that are not of God!

We had just finished talking to a guy on his porch when this girl saw us and started crying intensely. She is demon possessed and needs some real help. She had a bracelet on her wrist where she was in the hospital because of trying to commit suicide. We had just attempted to minister to her on Monday night. Just prior to this picture she had been trying to commit suicide by stepping out in front of cars on Holloway Street. She would not let us get close to her at this point.

Pastor Mac ministers to a young man with a gang affiliation. This was in Long Meadow Park where we had the outreach this past Saturday. There were a number of people that we ministered to and Praise the Lord it was in the shade!! We ministered to Cedric who had lost his grandmother the previous day. We ministered to Reggie who we have been ministering to for over a year. He is doing so much better but is still lost! I got to talk with a young man named Joseph who attends church regular and seems to be on track. He has a real calling on his life to minister the Gospel and he would be awesome on the streets! The demon possessed young lady showed back up in the park. David was the first to start talking with her and praying for her. I was talking with someone else but it seemed like she was calling out to God and asking for prayer. I will ask David to explain this more when it is posted on Facebook. At this point she had said that she was hungry so we gave her a McDonald's gift card so that she could get something to eat. She was going to walk with us but again headed off another direction. Please pray that she gets the help that she needs and most of all that she gets JESUS so that she can be set free!!! The 4th time with Ricky in one day!!! Pastor Mac and David pray for him. I brought it to his attention that it was the fourth time and that the Lord was trying to reach him! I told him that the Lord is standing at the door and knocking and that it was time for him to answer the door!

Revelation 3:20 'Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me.

Pray that Ricky wakes up and hears HIS voice!!!This is another guy that we keep running into. He cried this past Saturday as Eileen ministered to him. He went to church on Sunday and had a great time in the Lord! Praise God!!! We continue to minister to him. He needs to be delivered from alcohol. Isn't it something that alcohol is destroying so many people's lives but people that profess to be Christians will consume the same garbage??? I fully agree with Leonard Ravenhill calling it "THE BROTH OF HELL"!!!

This was heartbreaking! Look into the face of these little baby! David was just leaving after we had finished dinner in Wellon's Village. A mother came up pushing the stroller and was asking for money. As we always do we told her that we did not give any money out on the streets. We asked her if they had eaten and she said they had. We asked what her needs were and she said that she needed to get enough money to buy pampers for the baby. I told her that Eileen would go in the store with her to get them and that she needed to get that baby out of this heat!!! The mother without a second thought left her baby with David and I. David left and here I was baby sitting in the parking lot. I did my best to entertain her and block the hot sun from hitting her. We are attempting to get the mother some help. We need her to call us! Please pray that she does. They are currently staying in a boarding house.

Eileen and I were out again today but there were not many out because of the heat! We were able to put some bottles of ice cold water into some very appreciative hands!

Tuesday Afternoon Streets in East Durham!

We hit the streets again this afternoon. It is a hot one at 93 degrees!!! How rough it must be to not have a place to get out of this weather!!!

It is amazing to see how a bottle of ice cold water will open the door to share Jesus with people. As I posted the other day, we are in need of water and will be stocking up for a while. We go through sometimes several cases in one day when the weather is like this!

align="justify">Eileen stands with John and Bruce. We talked with them yesterday and told them that we would help them with hygiene products, food and bedding today. They were so thankful and offered to do work for us in the future or whatever we need. Very nice guys but struggling with the past fruit of sinful lives. They live in an abandoned warehouse. They take a shower by using a hose at a business nearby. If anyone local needs work done outside of their house these two guys would be willing to work. Neither have drug or alcohol habits.

After talking with them last night we gave them each a $5 McDonald's gift card. They were both very excited about being able to go there. Today they told us of how nice it was to sit in the air conditioning and eat their dinner. The McDonald's gift cards along with the water are tools that we use for ministering. We are also getting low on gift cards if you would like to help us out with some.Melody was so thankful to get a bottle of water today! She is doing better but still unable to totally escape the demon drug of crack! She talked about what the drug has done to her face. Please pray for her to get totally set free and for her to give her life to Jesus!!!

We also ran across a guy named Leon. He is homeless and lives in the woods. As we began to talk to him he looked at the van and said with tears welling up in his eyes "maybe someday you can help me". Leon had a very broken spirit. He told us of how his wife had died 19 months ago and how his life has fallen apart. He told us of how he owned two houses and he lost them because of turning to alcohol to cover his hurts. Now Leon just sits in the woods day after day and gets drunk. He drinks with another homeless guy who we were helping but he has also gone back to heavy alcoholism! His went back after his homeless camp was set on fire. As with all the people we told them that the only answer for their problems is JESUS!!!

We will be back on the streets walking tomorrow afternoon. We will meet at the McDonald's at the corner of Holloway & Miami.

Victory Outreach Durham Church Dedication...Some lessons to be learned.

Eileen and I both spoke at the dedication of the new building for Victory Outreach of Durham. Eileen gave a testimony on what the Lord has done for her with her bout with cancer. We have worked with Pastor Jessie at times since arriving in Durham.

This ministry reaches out to addicts and those needing to get their lives right with Jesus.
Pastor Jerome Carodine preached the message yesterday. Pastor Jerome and Pastor Jesse were in opposing gangs in California at one time. We had met Pastor Jerome at an outreach a couple years ago.

What Eileen and I were really impressed by yesterday was the way the youth are used at this church. The youth are not entertained but they are taught to serve and be leaders. This is so different from what most churches do with the youth. The youth were parking cars, the youth were ushers and greeters and the youth were polite and eager to serve the people. I think of one church that we visited that had a jungle set up for the kids. It made me think that the kids would love attending this so the parents would have no choice but to take them there whether the parents were getting spiritually fed or not. In this case I believe they were being fed "skim milk"! The enemy has to sit back and belly laugh at what goes on in this country!!!

The Word of God is so clear in what to do with children.....

Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

The problem that we have in this country today is the fact that the prior children (us) were taught to park our butts in a pew once or twice a week. That is why the "american church" is so weak today!!! Now it is a thing of entertaining kids and putting them on a pedestal for "performing" in a play for the holidays??? The youth programs that we have witnessed for the most part are "lame" at best! I would hate to think that the Lord would tarry long enough to see what that generation would reproduce??? The sad thing is that it is not the fault of today's youth, it is the fault of those that are "training them up"!

Man has made a mess out of God's church. Some tips are available for training up youth at Victory Outreach of Durham! Again, we were very impressed with these kids! The men of the program have also came out and worked with us on the streets. They are extremely hard workers and extremely respectful! This is an area where Victory Outreach far exceeds anything we have witnessed!
